Tom, I SO appreciate your knowledge and ability to convey that to us (I am a science and tech teacher, so I know). This particular video was so helpful. I have several EV's in the mix. We currently own a Tesla 3 using the portable cable, and a 2011 Leaf using a Blink home unit. They're on a 240 splitter from Amazon so we can time our cars to charge overnight at different times when the rates are cheapest, but not overlapping the charging which trips the circuit breaker on one 50 amp outlet. Now I just sold the Leaf, buying an Ioniq 5, and I threw in the Blink charger in the sale thinking I'd need something different (my bad for not doing that research). I think this would work as long as we charge on different nights. $140 sounds better than the $400 to $700 units you review. I don't need all the apps and bells and whistles.

Thanks Tom, as always you explained simply what is available and how these adaptors work as well as their limitations and safety issues. Keep the great videos coming.

My favorite host. Another great video. I’m getting one of the mini ones as soon as I have any friends who don’t buy a Tesla. It’ll be nice to offer my wall connector when needed.

Great video, I have had J-1772 charges that were either occupied or not working adjacent to Tesla Destination chargers and this Telsa too J-1772 is a very handy adaptor to have!

I have the Tesla Tap 50 amp, I agree it seems to be the best value and relatively safe option. The Mini would be a great option for Zero, Energica motorcycles and the Harley LiveWire.

Great overview! I use a TeslaTap adapter along with a Tesla Gen1 UMC cable as my travel EVSE for a Zero DSR with J-1772 6 KW ChargeTank. That way I can charge my Zero from Tesla Destination Charger as well.

In Europe, where Teslas have the type 2 connector, there are 2 types of Tesla destination charger, with red or white signs - the red ones are Tesla-only, the white ones will charge any car. Apparently there is a switch inside the wallbox that selects between the 2 modes.

Excellent video! We're about to take our first road trip in our Mach-E and will be staying at a few hotels that have a bunch of Tesla destination chargers, so I just got the Mini 60 which I learned about in this video. Great work Tom!

Super helpful video. Thank you very much for the clear explanation regarding maximum amperage draw from the vehicle (regardless of what the charging station is capable of).

Great video Tom, quick note on what you said about the longer adapters in where someone could unplug the Tesla cord, from your adapter, and charge their vehicle. From what I've read, that button that you can place a padlock under, electronically locks the adapter to the Tesla cable and the car.

I hear when your'e finished charging, you have to press the button, wait a few seconds for the click, which is the adapter unlocking from the Tesla cable, then you pull the entire thing from the vehicle, then you unplug the adapter from the Tesla cable. It's a process and it's quirky. I don''t own the adapter so maybe this is something you can check and verify.
