The actual storm is awful, but most people don't understand is the aftermath: The tarps over holes in your ceiling, the black mold, electricity down for at least a week, no fresh water for bathing/cooking/flushing, the loud sound of your neighbor's generator if you try to open a window (wishing you had one), curfews, zero coffee and THE HEAT.

I was just in Sanibel a week and a half ago. It’s horrific to imagine what the island and Ft. Meyers will look like after the water recedes. I hope everyone who stayed behind is safe and staying sheltered.
