Many mediums can be used for acrylic but I like to mix Flow improver & Slow Drying Medium Gel (the brand really doesn't matter, but I am using Windsor & Newton in this video.

Marion,
I'm 72 years old, and have been "creative" since my 20s, however because of circumstances in childhood, I didn't have very good self esteem, and was told that I did everything wrong. (so I bought into that theory), and have problems even to this day being able to finish my artwork, (or even get started) most of the time.

I always BUY every type of paint (Acrylic, Oils, Watercolors, Pastels, and lots of Brushes, WC Papers, WC Blocks, Canvases, etc. but have a hard time getting myself started.

One thing that has always held me back is that I wanted to "Blend & Shade" with paints, but didn't want to "wait" for Oils to dry!

Thank you sooo much for Sharing this Blending technique, as I believe this will help me just "DO IT"!!!   (Get Started)!!!
 Sincerely Ed

I use a hair dryer to quicken the drying of my acrylic paints so I can do layers of washes or whatever painting I need to do over that layer. I love acrylics because they dry quickly.

I just mixed up some and it’s really amazing how much easier it blends! Thankyou so much! Maybe it’s finally time to ask for your course as a Bday present.

LOVED watching your, "Silent Night" tutorial...I used acrylics so it took a second attempt, unfortunately because my sky was a hopeless mess, but loved your instructions and your lovely accent! Painting is very therapeutic for me but I struggle with some areas...wish you had more tutorials! Thanks so much for taking your time to provide such exceptional instruction for free.

I've been using slow drying medium mixing with colours and so excited to try this painting clear and colour on top.

Question: the 60/40 gel/flow improver ratio... is this eyeballing and looking at volume? I did it by weight and felt it was still gel like so added more flow improver to look like the consistency you use.

Would love to know before i make up a big bottle 😁

One can also buy propylene glycol and mixes a drop or two with the acrilyc paint to extended the time of drying

Thank you for this tutorial. I'm an oil painter and have tried to make the transition to acrylics, but because they're so different I haven't bee successful.

Is one of the mediums like Flow-aid or very thin but there are so many different gels & which kind do you use? Extending drying time & mixing two sounds like good mixture. Ty

In fact, I think highly of your talent and creativity.
Would please make a tutorial about how to make gold, silver and copper colors?

Hi, thank you so much for this rip!

I’m new to painting and have been so frustrated with the drying time of acrylics. I can’t seem to paint fast enough yet. I noticed you added the flow improver straight from the bottle. From the directions on my liquitex flow aid it says to mix it 20(water)/1(flow aid). So am I right in assuming you did not dilute your flow improver? Thanks in advance.

The most useful tool that changed my life is the wet palette, it was a before and after for me.
Spring here is just starting and i already sweat while being still just from existing, but my palette from yesterday is still nice and wet c:

Thanks for sharing this tip, Maz. My question thought would be, does the medium work the same with any acrylic paint brand, such as with Liquitex Basics, or Grumbacher?

Hi Maz, I just made up some of the above gel. But in my box of tricks I've found a glazing medium could you tell me what this is for please. Sheila.
