I'm answer another Coraline letter to talk about why the Beldam have so many features that resemble Mel Jones (Coraline's Mother). Have they met before?

In coraline the “welcome home” cake features a double loop on the O. According to graphology a double loop on a lower case O means the person who wrote it lying. There is only one double loop, meaning she is welcome but she is not home.(I found this on reddit and decided to share)

i always thought the whole "everyone has another mother" thing was her lying to Coraline to make her feel like this whole crazy experience was somehow normal

Going off of the Theorizers theory where the Beldam was once a normal person, maybe those pictures were of her own real children.

And what about the DNA. Theory from deleted scenes where the spider goes down and take some of Coraline‘s mothers DNA from the coffee Qaddafi her technically adapting to the form

I'm pretty sure that the beldam is just straight up lying to Coraline about "everyone having an other mother!"

I think when the Beldam told Coraline everyone has an Other Mother, she was referring to herself. She uses the doll to spy on children to see which ones need her love and takes the form of their mother so they'll trust her. Then when the children trust her, that's when the buttons come in. I also think the reason for sewing the buttons into the children's eyes is so she can pass on the spying through the doll to find her next victim.

The beldam can shapeshift into anyone and anything, so she can shapeshift into Coraline’s mother and did the same for every other victim she captured, shapeshifted into their mother and easily tricked them

Go see the deleted scenes of Coraline and make a theory

Oh, that theory gave me chills. With that train of thought--who's to say there's only ONE?

What if Coraline is actually taking on how young children react to having a step mother and coralines real mom died in the car crash which is why coraline keeps trying to convince her mother its not her fault it happened

Perhaps we could take into consideration The doll that’s uniquely made for the children that go missing. What if it’s true it open Coraline said that the doll is a spy for the beldam watches Coraline. If that’s the case then clearly at least at one point in the movie on or off screen but I would make “visual” contact with Coraline’s true mother. And once the dog would make physical contact with Coralines mom, it would take a magic/psychic imprint on her character so the Other Mother would have a form to create to trick Coraline.

Interesting theory on the button eyes. As usual, I made it to the end. Because I always do. LOL.

I'm pretty sure the Beldam looks like children's parents to lure them into her trap. She takes the form of the child's mother, gives them a better life, then takes their souls/lives

I love this additional theory. I makes a lot of sense for my own headcanon. Honestly at this point I can't remember what are my own coraline theories and what I got from your videos but my own idea of the Belldam was that she would eat once a generation and functioned similarly to a weeping angel from dr who. Meaning she would live off the potential life energy the child would have had. So I had it in my head that the slipping into spider form was more because she was running low on power and couldn't maintain the "cozy mom" form as long as she normally. But if its a New Beldam every time it would explain a lot of the mistakes she made, like trying to sell the button eyes on the second or third visit. I'd imagine if she's been doing this for hundreds of years she would know that kids don't like being mutilated lol

she feeds off of other people’s energy. when she takes the child’s eyes it’s a metaphor for their souls (eyes are the window to the soul)

Theories are like imagination, they have no limit. The beldam appears to be both limited and unlimited at the same time. that's one ability I would like to have to take form of anything.

There was a deleted scene of coralines OG mother, she had coffee and a spider had went into her drink I'm guessing taking DNA from it and gave it to the other mother to turn into her. But I think the other mothers OG look is just a metal human/spider, because when she was making the doll in the beginning of the movie she had metal spider looking hands

_I came up with this theory as I was watching the movie for the first time, so here it is:_

I actually think that the beldam can make herself and her world appear different to suit each individual victim. And in the case of coraline, it is her parents (with the exception of the eyes, of course), and probably also some mind reading abilities, since the beldam seems to understand what the victim’s hardships and desires are to tempt them to stay forever with her. And I think that the previous victims could have also been previous residents in that house, which may also mean that the house is most likely the only place where the beldam can have some access to our world
