Problems refine us. They can surface our most golden attributes in ways a problem-free life cannot.
However, sometimes we humans can get stuck because of our problems.
Tony has a name for this learned helplessness, it’s called the Three Ps:
Permanent
Pervasive
Personal
People think a problem is Permanent because they’ve been disappointed time and time again, and their brain doesn’t want to be disappointed anymore.
They resolve to thinking that their problem is unfixable. It’s forever. It’s never going away.
No problem is permanent, only your soul is permanent.
Tony teaches us that nothing is forever. Every problem can be solved with the right tools. Pandemics, winter, war; none of these last forever. Just like the seasons, there is always change. There are new beginnings.
