This is the fifth video from the Lead Guitar Quick-Start Series. In this lesson, you will learn how to play the Minor Pentatonic Guitar Scale. This is arguably the most popular guitar scale, so it will be very valuable to you as a lead guitarist.

As you learn the Minor Pentatonic Scale you'll notice it sounds quite different from the Major Pentatonic Scale. It has different characteristics, so I've included a new jam-track that you can use to practice this scale along with real music.

Are you ready for the next lesson? You can find all of the videos from the Lead Guitar Quick-Start Series here:

You can get the jam-track for this lesson here:

Hi Nate you cleared a lot of confusion that I was having in learning the scales. I used to get confused in the the G major, The G major Pentatonic and the G minor Pentatonic scales. With the help of your scale reading I hope I will be able to master those three Major scales. Thanks

Hi Nate. I just found your channel and love it. I have learned the 5 minor pentatonic scales patterns shapes all the way up the neck of the guitar, but never realized that these three scales are what I need to focus on in playing lead over chord shapes. The major scale, and the major pentatonic scale are just variations of the 2nd minor pentatonic scale pattern without the blues notes. I look forward to learning how to play these three scales over chord shapes, but don't know when to stop strumming and start picking.

Nate, luv your meticulous approach to learning lead guitar. What make and model guitar are you using on this lesson group and has it been altered in any way? I'm playing a Fender "Fat Strat" and I'm wondering if a little thinner neck would be more to my liking?
