A failing liver is when you develop neurological symptoms, start bleeding or fluid leaks into your abdominal cavity. Itching can develop in any disease of liver.

His corpus callosum, the part of the brain that connects the two hemispheres, must be separated or severely damaged to cause this. Usually when one hemisphere of the brain sees something it will identify it and put it into words, then send it to the speech center of the brain to be spoken. When the corpus callosum is cut or damaged, the hemispheres aren’t connected and thus it can’t happen.

This actor (the patient) always plays his character well. He plays the bad guy in an episode of "Lie to Me" and he played it so well that i wanted to strangle his character (he played a smug genius billionaire technology guy)

The reason your left and right brain can communicate with each other is because of what's called the corpus callosum. There's only a very small part of the brain that connects the two sides, it's not a solid chunk. You can live without it though. Not that long ago they used to treat epileptic patients by severing the corpus callosum because that's where the seizures usually happened

This is a real phenomenon which can sometimes occur with people who've had a lobotomy

Edit: you guys are right, not lobotomy but far reaching epilepsy Treatment, my mistake!

Iirc his deodorant was causing issues.

The right half of his brain controlling his left hand actually figured out it was the deodorant before the start of the episode. When his GF brought him some stuff after he arrives at the hospital, the arm/hand threw the deodorant angrily, because his brain knew it was hurting him, and couldn't communicate it. This scares the GF thinking that the guy hates her (or ar least part of him, cause it is half his brain)

However at the end of the episode, when the GF deduces that the arm/brain was angry about the deodorant, the arm/brain for the first time is "nice" to the GF.

It's wierd to describe a body part as seperate from it's owner, but in this scenario it kind of is.

If I remember correctly he was having neurological problems due to exposure to a toxic substance found in his deodorant.

Alien hand syndrome is so fascinating....

I kind of want to experience this. Not the whole cancer thing and liver failure of course but the ailien hand syndrome. It's fascinating to me. Would i be able to communicate with the hand? (Or really the mind behind it of course) The way the hand drew the candle without him noticing does make me think there is someone there. Would that someone (presumably also me?) be just as aware as me? Just not able to talk?

So many questions. And i find it very interesting. Also having two minds could be useful ^^" though i understand it obviously not without drawbacks. And if the other mind is as aware as me it would probably not be great for them. Being limited to just one limb. A lot to think about
