Perhaps the substance surrounding the boba in the mooncake was earl grey, because boba isn’t made with tea so it might be earl grey milk tea (sorry if this doesn’t make sense)

i recommend trying lava custard mooncakes!
they’re really popular here in hong kong and many people prefer them to the traditional lotus paste/egg yolk ones

I absolutely love mung bean filled ones with 2 yolks inside, gives it that sweet and savoury taste :)

The label says earl gray tea paste for what’s in the center. Earl grey is made from black tea and bergamot which has an aromatic citrus flavor. It is definitely known to have a similar flavor profile as licorice, it’s just more earthy.

Hi Lisa i want to recommend a food called spread it's a food they make in jail but believe me it's not too bad. And it's considered the best thing you can eat in jail.

there are many recipes but the way i eat it has cooked instant ramen crushed hot cheetoes and melted monterey jack cheese all mixed together.

to me it doesn't look the most appetizing but it tastes good (in my opinion). i hope you consider this idea.
