Honestly I don't think it's cringe. You should date people who have similar interests to you. My older brother dated a girl he liked but the problem was she didn't like anime, cartoons, or video games she was nice about it but she did admit she found them childish. Fair enough but after a few months of dating he started losing feelings because they had nothing to connect on and was big for him considering it's a literal Manga artist. According to him after that honeymoon stage was over and he tried to talk to her to pass the time they litteraly had nothing talk about. He's try to recommend some stuff but she wasn't willing to watch or if she did she would lost interests. I told him 6 months in after he asked for advice that

"You guys aren't very compatible when it comes to your interests and you both are not willing to indulge and learn about one another's either. Give yourself more time to think but I recommend you break up. I know you and you only get bored of her and though you won't cheat, your eyes will wander and that will cause issues. She on the otherhand likely will look over this but will secretly insecure and frustrated about it. She will end up actually being more invested in you over time but in an unhealthy way in some form and you feel suffocated because your love for her would be dwindling back to when were friends. Pull the plug."
