Flight attendants rally against unpaid work

Flight attendants participated in a national day of action to raise awareness about the unpaid work they’re required to do and to call for changes to how they’re compensated. Dilshad Burman reports.

Flight Attendants make their jobs look so glamorous. I thought everything was perfect for them.

This current contract negotiations is stressful to customers. What both sides need to understand: is that vacations are a "WANT" not a need. In times of high interest rates and tight money, people can choose not to go on vacation, as it is a luxury. So threatening strikes and disruptions make people want to not waste their money on booking a trip that may get cancelled.. If wages go too high, prices then go too high, and the customer walks away; then leaving the company to close down and everyone is out of a job. This is a lose-lose-lose situation for everyone, we have seen it in the past. Be careful want you ask for.

Soooo unfair. They should be paid when the get to the airport. BUT keep paying pilots just for the flight. Then pilots and flight attendants can make a similar wage. Thats fair!!!

What's missing here is what the pay per hour while the plane is in the air is. Suppose a stewardess gets $50 an hour in the air which might work out to $30 an hour for every hour on the job, that's not a bad wage. Without all the relevant information it's just a bit hard to have any sympathy for them.

And yet they won't protest when they are getting paid for sitting around doing nothing during flight delays or other period of "unworked pay"

I don't support federal workers but if you work it shouldn't matter on ground in the air in space when your on the clock you should get paid but question is are you getting paid salary or hourly if it's hourly and their straight up not paying those hours I agree if it's salary then it's in the contract
