More than half the world is a tropical/subtropical or desert area. Most of Asia is tropical/subtropical, the MIddle East is mostly desert, so the over heating problem is an issue worldwide.

As MKBHD mentioned in his video about iOS 17, most of the features rely on other people also having iPhones with iOS 17, so it makes sense that you didn’t enjoy it much or see it as a big upgrade as a beta tester.

My main issue, as someone who plays games on my iPhone a lot on my commute, is my performance. There's a glitch that causes a games frame rates to cut in half when touching the screen, which is really distracting in racing games particularly. I really hope the 15 fixes it, because it makes the 14 Pro feels less powerful than an 11 Pro

I had so many problems with my 14 pm after having the 12 pro max. After 5 months of missing calls or not being able to make calls, Apple replaced it but the issue continues. It all boiled down to the fact that the sim card in my 12 was still getting the calls but not the phone itself. Everything was going straight to vm. Wouldn’t even get text. I would reboot and it would be fine for a while then it would be a nightmare again. I like the physical sim.

I'm done with the whole ecosystem, moving to Samsung has been the greatest decision I've ever made. The iphone used to be smooth, trouble free but nowadays these phone has so many hiccups here and there to the point where android nature may not as smooth as apple but nowadays it's hit or miss. So for the price and performance value android is beating apple by a ton.

Enjoying my 14 pro max, upgraded from the 12 pro max, yeah the 14 pro max is heavier and bulkier..but so is every pro max version 😁 will hold off from the 15 series, and will upgrade to the 16 series once it comes out, you tend to notice iphones have some bugs both parts and software wise whenever they release a new model..and they tend to get it right every other model they release so, I will keep my tradition of every other model upgrade if I can or might as well hold on to my 14 promax till iphone 17 comes out, that's if my current iphone does not give me problems for the next 2 years, hopefully

I have a iPhone 14 Plus and the battery degradation has already hit my phone. I upgraded to the 14 Plus in May from my iPhone 11 and my battery life is already at 98%. I’m not a heavy phone users, just use it for music streaming and scrolling social media, so I don’t charge it everyday unless it needs it. Definitely makes me think about switching to android.

115F + brighter screen + iOS 17 beta probably explains the battery health. But I agree, that’s a big drop in the first year.

Good review. I got my 14 Pro in December and my battery is still at 99%, so idk. But I agree that the dynamic island is another Touch Bar or 3D Touch Moment- super cool but never fully utilized. And for me, it still a bit too big. I’d like the regular iPhone to be smaller and then let the Max be bigger for the people that like that

For someone who travels and likes to buy affordable local smartphone service, I need to have a physical sim slot. The rest of the world hasn't jumped onto just using esims yet. Esim is great as a secondary option but when it's not available then it can suck. That's why iPhones sold out of the US have a sim slot still. I can only assume US is the test market for the esim only idea.

I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Moving to Android due to esim and lackluster iOS17. I think the esim was utilized to trap you into Apple even more as you cannot move between phones like you can with a SIM card,

I got the regular 13 as my first ios device last year, to be exact 11 months ago, even tho the 14 series came out i decided that it wasn't worth the extra money for not that much of a difference. Almost a year later i have 97 % battery health and i coudn't be more happy. One time i stress tested the battery from 100 to 5% before it died, i got 14 h and 45 min of screen on time. No regrets on my decision.

I'm under the impression you enjoyed the iPhone 13 Pro more than this 😂
Lots of iPhone 14 Pro reviews recently have been showing up. Definitely glad to see this phone get attention than its Pro Max counterpart. Battery, unfortunately, was a common complaint I heard about this phone. Crazy how the Galaxy S23 Plus, which is the same price in the U.S, has much better battery and isn't even the "top of the line" like the Galaxy S23 Ultra but to me, it feels like that since it has everything you want that you ideally wouldn't use on the Ultra. Just my perspective, though. Anyway, the iPhone 14 Pro definitely is a solid device for sure, and I'm not even an Apple fan 😂

I haven't had any issues with my 14 pro max and i've owned it since oct 27th. My battery health is still at 100% and I usually charge it up once every 1.5 days or so using only magsafe and i use my phone every day. The speed of my phone is still very fast and i have had no issues with my e sim on cricket wireless network.

I’ve had Androids and iPhones since their inception. I’ve even had a “wedge” A T&T phone. I had iPhone’s 5, 7, XR and 11. The 14 Pro is the best phone I’ve ever owned. The battery is at 98% after a year of heavy use, pictures & videos are first rate. I’ll keep it another year.

It's funny how many comparisons I am drawing to my S23. I turned off always on display since the S7 days, same reason as you. My S23 despite being insanely efficient just gets really dim outside when its hot. Esim is scary to set up, but for me it worked instantly. You mentioned how people may not buy the iPhone 15 due to price hikes and same features, and in the recent Apple financial report, they expected less demand as well. That's why they lost a lot of stock value recently.

I want to clear some stuff up about the battery, I see a lot of misconceptions and 90% of it isnt false or true. The biggest reason for degradation is amount of cycles a phone is charged, doubly so when it is in heat (almost throttling territory). Wireless charging causes more heat, but it doesnt matter (unless we're talking 5+ years) because its controlled and iPhone speeds are already poor. Same deal with wired. I have a feeling you charge overnight, and also sometimes in extreme heat which explains the loss. Of course thats still not normal even under those conditions, thats insane loss in 1 year. Could be a bug, or the lithium Apple is sourcing from just isn't up to par. Whatever it is, within 3 years you should NEVER notice large differences no matter how "wrong" you charge your device. Usually 85% of total capacity is the norm after 3 years. I'm gonna eventually write an article over this with proper evidence, but for now I guess take this comment for what it is.

I'm from South Africa. As a third world country with average telecommunication infrastructure, I learnt about esim this year for the first time and it took within 30mins for the esim activation, and had zero issues since.

That battery degradation is rough. My GF has had a S21 for over 2 years and hers is at 94%. I bring up hers because she games. Like constantly plus streaming music. She charges her phone at least twice a day and wireless charges every night. My S21 I got around the same time is at 96% and I never game on my phone so I just charge over night wireless. I was expecting a wider margin between the two honestly.
