It's the pre-cruise shopping that gets me 🤣

While not cheap we decided to have a one way overnight car rental from Orlando to Port Canaveral. It was about the same as shuttle service for 4 but gives us the ability to explore during the time in Florida.

I shop the end of summer sales when the prices are 60-70% off. Great prices for bathing suits and other summer clothes that I can still use now and for a winter cruise.

"Zero spending pre cruise?" Ugh...not happening. It's too enjoyable to watch your videos & suggestions for items, clothes and gadgets. (on a budget, of course!) Thanks, Sheri :)

I ❤ annual travel insurance. It covers all travel for the year, not just cruising.

Any time I take a wine bottle for special occasions I do bring my own cork screw as we always open the bottle in the stateroom.

My advantage is iive in Plantation near Lauderdale. I have only done two cruises so far. And i am Solo. So plane and hotel costs for now are zero until i exhaust my cruise itineraries dow here. In June i took a bus five minutes from my house and the Trirail down to Miami Central. The bus didn't charge me the $1 as im 65. They charged ne $0. and the Trirail was $5 each way. And if i get the Senior pass would be $2.50. I took my champagne bottle to the Main Dining Room (i was with a group) and they didn't charge me the corkage fee. Good job. Over and out.

I can honestly say that I never did pre-cruise purchases for any of my cruises, except Alaska because I didn’t have a rain jacket and I didn’t have thermal undies to wear. But new dresses, new shoes, new jewelry, ? No, it’s not necessary. Don’t need it. Those people have never seen me before. They’ll never see me again lol.

I am currently heading home from a cruise to Alaska. Spent 2 days pre cruise in Seattle. Pricy hotels, meals, rental car etc. Then the Ubers to the port. Had to purchase waterproof hiking shoes and rain jackets. Plus we drove ourself to the airport so that’s 10 days of parking fees! I’m hating even thinking about the final cost of this vacation.

When we sail from port canaveral or Tampa, we drive in the same day of the cruise. That saves us on pre hotel stays. I no longer even take a picture so that’s no longer a problem. Clothes are no longer an issue unless we lose or gain weight.

I bought the biggest photo package on my first carnival cruise. It was a big impulse buy! That said, after my trip I got offers for free cruises from Carnival because of my onboard spending. Not casino offers! But big spender offers! 😂 We are going on carnival Firenze for free soon!

Last year, I bought an annual travel insurance plan for the 1st time. The airline lost my suitcase - it took 8 days into a 15 day trip for it to catch up with the ship at a port. The insurance reimbursed paid for what I had to spend on clothes - paid for itself and I came home with new clothes.

Thanks for your video. Always enjoyable to watch your videos.
No need of pre-cruise shopping for me. 🤩
Next cruise will be 9 day Alaska in October 2024. I'm living in South-Pacific and my clothing for cold temperatures is classic style and really not very often used, bc I only wear it 2-3 times a year when visiting New Zealand or flying to my home country in Northern Europe.
Btw I will travel on my Alaska cruise just with carry-on/personal item (short time frame international/domestic flights, having free laundry on ship due to high loyalty status), so def no risk of over-packing and "over-shopping" at all.
I've booked pre-cruise hotel 7 months before sail date - got a great deal, meanwhile it would be three times😮 higher in price. And within my early hotel booking private shuttle was included.🤩🤩
Greetings from Mo'orea (sister island of Tahiti) in French-Polynesia 🌴 🏖 😎 🇵🇫 🇫🇷

Parking off site can be a disaster, sometimes, we just budget more for parking.

I’m a travel agent, so apart from insurance the best tip I can give… AIRPLANE MODE! Turn your phone to airplane mode otherwise you’ll learn the hard way when you get back like I did with a stupidly high bill 😂 The wifi package cost is usually less than this bill you’ll get! ❤

I fly to every cruise port, so I don't have to deal with parking on site, but I often have to deal with parking at the airport. That's not cheap either. Sometimes I'll do a shuttle to the airport, which is often less expensive, but eats up precious vacation time.

🙋🏽‍♀️ even as a minimalist, I still usually buy at least one new outfit or swimsuit for or a cruise.

So I’m from New Zealand and I LOVE cruising, that means flying to Miami or Fort Lauderdale most times… thank goodness I’m a travel agent and I know to book in advance and make sure I have insurance, I got Norovirus from a port and thank goodness I had it $2500 later… for a tummy bug! 😮 And don’t skimp on it! The cheaper is not always the best…
