In the days when we cruised on a tight budget, my husband and I would each bring our allotted bottle of wine, buy one drink of rum each and combine that with the free fruit juice and fresh fruit to make sangria. We'd also go to the art shows and other events where free champagne was being served. We didn't want to chance getting caught sneaking liquor on board. Thank goodness those days are behind us. Also when you leave from a European port, you can bring hard liquor on board at every port. You can also stick with cruise lines that have the beverage/liquor package built into your price. NCL usually does this if you book during a promotion.

We leave on first cruise next week. Wonder if they are aware of the "brand" of the cruiserunner bottles.

I always place my rum
runner bags in a zip lock and a grocery back. Next time put the tampons in a ziplock.

thanks for the fun video. That said, if cruise security was at all careful they would open all of these containers and you’re busted. The wine bottle gimmick, as illustrated in another video, seems to be the most foolproof. Cruise lines charging outrageous amounts for drink packages have themselves to blame when we as cruise passengers try to game their system. If their prices were more reasonable fewer customers would try to do this. I really do think that given the thousands of passengers coming on board, they are not bothering with a few small containers. It’s passengers who are bringing literally liters of alcohol, with numerous containers, who are going to be thoroughly searched.

In my experience, you have to try real hard to lose your cruise booze. And the cabin stewards dont care either. Basically, they just want people to be happy with their experience & re-book future cruises.

Was on the Royal Caribbean last month and all you have to do is purchase a 1.5 litre bottle of water off the ship, drink it (or dump it), and then purchase clear liquor from a liquor store and fill it.

Worked multiple times.

The shampoo bottles instead of the plastic pouches are the way to go but we always use the Cruise Runners brand they are reusable with the extra seals and look more realistic.

The thing that sucks is every so often you gotta go back to the room for refills and not to mention your not hanging around the bars.

On my last cruise the two of us would have spent over $1400 for the deluxe drink package had we bought it. There is no way that makes any sense for us. So yes, I'm a boobie (bring our own booze) too. We do get the soft drink package.

I crack up every time I see one of these “informational” videos about smuggling booze posted. The cruise lines have people watching YouTube for exactly this reason. Every time someone shows a “shampoo brand” or a “tampon wrapper”, screenshots go out to staff. So the hack is good until about three hours after the video is posted….
