$800-900 USD seems to be the general range for most standard RSC service jobs (no broken parts). Very reasonable as long as you don't get conned into the idea that you need to be getting a luxury watch serviced every 4 years.

Not bad. Patek wants US$1900 for a similar service on an annual calendar. Lange wants US$1700 on a manual with no complications.

Had my late granddad's explorer serviced in 2018, costed about 1.4k back then for a complete service + change of glass (had a gash on the side) and a new crown

Did they give it back to you in a box or a plastic bag? When I did my service in 2013 of my 3 watches, I was given them back in a small plastic bags. It cost me about $1, 800 for all three 10 years ago.
I just dropped my Explorer 2 with white dial for service. It was running slow 6-9 sec per day by my count and 6 sec slow by the Service Center count. The quoted price to me is $1, 000.
