Best Cordless Airless Paint Sprayer? // Graco Tc Pro & Ultra Review

If you are in the market for a paint sprayer or are just looking for an easier way to get a great paint finish - look no further! In this video I review the Graco Tc Pro airless paint sprayer and compare to other similar sprayers in the Graco line up.

In general I am very impressed with the paint sprayer, especially when comparing to my original (corded) Truecoat 360 DS model. The fit and function of everything is better along with higher end components. I will say though, given the choice, I would recommend the Graco Ultra Cordless over the Graco Tc Pro Cordless. I've found that you can get the Ultra for the same price as the Tc Pro and you're actually getting a much more capable sprayer.

There are also some versions of the cordless paint sprayers which can spray flammable materials and they either have "Max" or "Plus" in the name. They are quite a bit more expensive so you better be sure you need that capability!

Here are the "tiers" of Graco paint sprayers I talk about in the video:

Tier 3 Sprayers

Tier 2 Sprayers

Tier 1 Sprayers

Great sprayer! I have the Ultra and painted the entire interior of my 1600sqf home. I love the interchangeable tips as it helped me get the paint flow/fan size just right for the various paints I used. I know you were concerned about its ability to do big jobs and, while you will definitely get a forearm workout, I had no issues with overheating while running the sprayer continuously through multiple batteries. I also purchased extra 42oz cups and liners and kept other charged batteries handy so I wouldn’t have to stop and refill as often. Just don’t leave paint in the pump overnight. That cost me around $200 for a new pump… I hope this helps some people!

That skill share sounds great. I have two of these. One Ultra and one TC Pro. I have put about 90 gal. Through the pumps before the clogging problems begin. They spray excellent and I am a pro painter. I refinish trim and paint small 50-70 sq. Ft ceilings with it. Now the clean out. I can do it in about 6-7 minutes.. basically take off cup leave the cup holder top on and tip up side down under a faucet. Switch between prime and spray several times. Easy to clean and 1/2 the time of my big G490’s. Recommended if you do 5-10 jobs per year.

As a professional painter, I think you did an outstanding job with this review! I also agree that the Pro Ultra is the way to go. I’m actually considering purchasing one for smaller jobs, so that I don’t have to break out my larger airless. I can really see the benefit of having one. Good job, dude!👍

One of the biggest benefits I've seen for these vs the larger units is the amount of paint that's needed to even use it. The larger airless go through paint really quick. It takes almost a half gallon just to prime up the system of my large airless. A gallon of paint won't get you very far and then there's still around a 1/3 of the can left when the pickup tube is pretty much useless. These are great if you have a small project and just have a quart of paint to do it.

Great video, one quick point, and it's kind of a biggie, the TC PRO and the ULTRA are the exact same sprayer. The FFLP spray tips are 100% compatible with the TC PRO and all of the inner components are exactly the same.

I just did a whole room with this sprayer, 2 of the walls were taken up by a window/closets but I am so happy I decided to do it with this

Just bought this unit to paint some shed siding and other small projects. So far I'm very impressed, makes easy work of t111 shed siding. It's a bit of a paint hog with overspray but the time savings in worth it. I am heavily invested in the Milwaukee m18 battery system and wasn't crazy about now adding a Dewalt cordless tool. I spend about $21 on Amazon and got a Milwaukee-to-Dewalt adapter to use on the paint sprayer and it works great. Sold both Dewalt batteries and the charger for $100.

As someone who does parking lot striping, we will typically switch through colors multiple times from white to red to blue and yellow but we may need little touch ups. Maybe a car ran over wet paint or a stencil got forgotten. Something like this would definetly come in handy

Used this gun to paint exterior siding on my house, 1500 sq ft and painted exterior of two barns! I love it! And it’s never overheated, not once. It was 90 degrees when I painted last barn, went thru 3 gallons of paint. It’s been awesome! I don’t have the 42oz system still using 32oz so means filling up more but it’s lighter. And you can change the guard to the rac x and use fflp tips which are awesome and a cheaper way to use those tips versus buying the ultra

I have the VSP and I used it to paint the entire exterior of my house. It never over heated. It also worked out well. I would run through the a 42 ounce cup, back roll, refill and do another section. I have a full airless rug but I found it perfectly effective to use the little sprayer. Maybe not what it is designed for but worked well for me.

“If something has wet paint on it, I’m going to touch it” 😂 had to pause the video to subscribe/comment, that is me 100%

I had tc pro just about 2 weeks for a remote job. It's surprising. It's easy to use. I actually use it to paint whole house trim, door, corners, cabinet, base boards( I have 5 batteries total). Now it's about 18 gallons. I am not a pro and I love it.

I own a ultimate my self I painted the interior of a 6x5 shed a ceiling in an apartment, I have painted a whole house of baseboards, about 40 doors and a whole room lol it’s been very nice to me. It is a bit tedious to fill but it’s still a great sprayer

It’s a great sprayer, used it for repaint furniture to flip and omg the freedom you get having it cordless and the speed is incredible. Took 40 minutes to prime with paint roller and brush vs only taking less then 5 Minutes with this sprayer! Thankful I found this sprayer new in the box on offerup for $370

Years ago I looked at Graco's in big box and learned those models use the RAC V tips versus the better RAC X tips on the pro models sold in paint stores. For same money I went with the base pro model and never looked back. So good for large jobs but for small tasks a pain to set up and clean out (long hose means a lot of paint to flush.) So when they started offering the handhelds I jumped in and got the cheap cheap DIY corded model and it works fine so far, and not as hard to clean up IMO. But only two tips and 1500 PSI so started looking at these better versions but of course Graco playing the same game offering incompatible versions with proprietary tips in big box versus pro paint stores (and Amazon). So my current two speed consumer version was really cheap on a deal day or something - less than 140 bucks so when it wears out I will likely pony up for the Ultra plus as it can spray lacquer and volatiles. But wow over 800 clams plus if Dewalt ever obsoletes the current 20v battery form factor ( and i'm a Makita 18v guy, same fear tho) ...anyway all of these use the flex containers but like you point out the plus has a solvent compatible version to tolerate solvent coatings. You can buy extra flex containers and you can use a plug to seal unused paint in the flex containers (solvent or regular) and just clean the gun for overnight preservation- can't really do that with my pro model that only works with 5 gallon buckets and needs to be cleaned every night or face gumming up the pump, hose and gun. Oh and oil - gotta oil the big boy every time.

I bought a graco prox17 a year back. The airless sprayer cart with the gun on the hose. This is one thing I'll stick with cords and hoses. If I were to do it again I'd get a more powerful version, but this one already paid itself off on friends jobs. It's was about the same price as those handhelds

Use mineral spirits to clean and you can leave it in there, does same as that armor stuff...
