Sooo yeah, lots of small inaccuracies in this video, clearly written by someone with limited spraying experience (especially with hvlp units). First, the gx19 hopper definitely doesn't hold anywhere near two gallons of paint.. If you try to pour even a single gallon into it it'll be up past the prime tube (I own this unit). Overspray with airless is bigger droplets, with hvlp they are much finer and turn to dust in a very short distance, which is great if you're working outside, if you're painting inside tho make sure you have ventilation going, because 'dust' will get absolutely all over the place. It produces an effect reffered to as 'fogging' (which is exactly what it sounds like, before you know it there will basically be a big fog of super fine paint particles surrounding your work area).. You can mitigate this a bit by turning your air down some, having plenty of air movement with fans venting it outside (with filters if possible). Also with airless, if you don't have proper technique you will instantly get runs... Your arm should be moving before and after you let go of the trigger, with hvlp you can dial it in nice and slow, but you can also get it to spray out in bigger volumes to get it near the speeds of an airless. Especially with a good 5stage turbine like the Graco 9.5 hvlp pro (also a unit I own and use regularly for cabinets, intricate trim, and any time I only have a small amount of material to spray). Cleanup is a breeze with both units, but the hvlp is especially easy, you can even toss out the reusable plastic liners (especially if it was in oil). If it's latex, you can take the hvlp gun apart in a few seconds on a decent unit. Spits... So spits absolutely happen with both. Don't let the hvlp sprayer fool you, you should still do your best to trigger on and off without spraying directly onto your work piece and keep your arms moving. Another huge advantage of hvlp is that it uses far less material, and wastes less in overspray. Also you can have multiple hvlp paint guns going, switching between them in seconds. I regularly use 3 at a time, one has my shellac primer and two with different colors, it's also way easier to swap colors with hvlp cups than cleaning out the entire airless units (especially if you're using shellac or oil based products). And my shellac primer gun, usually I can leave it sitting in shellac for weeks and weeks at a time if I felt like it. It's completely sealed in the unit, (or better yet I can just leave it in a dedicated cup with a cap) might do a quick clean on the needle before use and give it a good shake and it's good to go. Both types of sprayers are absolutely fantastic.

Difference between airless sprayer is this machines are made for outside work like paint a 🏠, deck, concrete. But they aren't the best for cabinets and furniture . Air spray are the best for cabinets and furnitures, and cars better quality. But it's not good for painting a house so each do great work on it's areas having both and knowing how to use them is good

I find painting internal walls is best done with my roller or my small airless paint sprayer, like my Earlex 75 or my Ronseal battery powered sprayer to spray wood preservatives inside my shed walls. If I use my HVLP sprayer, the air in the room or shed becomes thick with paint vapour because of air rushing through the gun, dragging the paint out into the airstream and the vapour goes everywhere besides on the walls. If I'm spraying masonry paint on to the rendered walls of my house, I use my Deco Style high pressure airless paint sprayer, because the surface is rough and would wear out a paint brush or roller and the Deco Style is very quick and with a long lance I can reach the eaves etc easily, without moving ladders around too much. I wouldn't use my HVLP sprayer here, as the paint would blow everywhere in the slightest breeze. If I'm spraying metal panels indoors or outside, I turn on my air compressor and use my paint spray gun to get a perfect finish. The main downside with my Deco Style is that the pipes etc hold probably at least half a litre of paint that must be emptied out at the end of a job. So, I let the sprayer suck up water until the paint stops squirting out and then save that watery paint in a container for another time, but keep the water flowing through the machine for a while longer to fully flush through.

Video is made for clicks, not for actual information.
I use both. Depending on the paint, the cabinets, the overall situation. There is no better or worse. Meaning you got to look at the big picture AND know what to look for.
Meaning that if you are trying to do this for the first time expect lots of wasted time, paint, and frustration + an end result that maybe great in your eyes but any professional will just smile politely when he sees it.

The people shown painting in this video are completely clueless in regards to how to spray. I don’t think any of them kept the nozzle perpendicular to the surface or at a constant distance from the surface. If you spray like is demonstrated in this video, you will get very poor results.

The thing that Confucious me the most is why they call the larger(capacity) units like the Gracos "airless" when they apparently build up more air pressure than the HVLP types. Must be the American way i reckon.

Can you use the gravity gun set up on a airless sprayer. For example if you already have a airless sprayer and want to spray a car?

One uses air conventional sprayer an one doesn't an airless sprayer is a fluid pump. One sprays at 30psi conventional an one at 3000psi Airless Sprayer.

Maybe someone will help me with this scenario. I have a wagner 350m (airless system) but I am a little disappointed with the power of this device, I have to dilute the paint a lot (more than 15%) to get something out. I have to paint my house (150m2) and I was wondering if I could not use my 150 liters compressor with a pressure pot and the wagner 350m gun ? Is it a good idea? Is it a valid solution?

Thank you for your answers
