I bought a brand new Pinto in 1975..Loved it ❤..My spouse bought a bobcat..Looked just like my pinto but had a 6 cylinder..That thing was fast..Liked them both..Drove the Pinto for 14 years..Only thing I didn't like was it didn't have a good heater in it.

Worst car ever made? Not by a long shot. I had a Pinto station wagon, it was a great car, very reliable, good on gas and plenty of room for 4 people.

They sold over 3 million pintos. Hardly a bad seller. But yes, the Barbecue that seats 4 did suffer a sales decline after the mother Jones article in 1977.

Actually, no offense, that is incorrect. The car sold amazingly well. I was a kid in the 70s and they were all over the place. They didn't stop selling well until the major lawsuit where a 52 year old woman and 13 year old boy were killed/disfigured. 128 million (1978) was awarded. That's when it tanked. 1980 last year made. Thanks for the video!

My auto shop teacher used to have a buddy decades ago who owned a pinto, and it had flames painted on it…
But they were from the back. I could only wish to see this car.

What would happen is that the straps holding the gas tank would come loose so the tank would drag on the ground causing sparks that would ignite the spilling gas. Fords recall put a bolt in that held the straps. Recent data reviews revealed that Pintos caught fire at the same rate as the national average for all cars.

the other problem is too, when the Pinto got rear-ended, the quarter panels would fold over the doors, basically locking them from the outside. And when the gas tank lit on fire, the operator of the vehicle would be stuck inside =/
Other than that, it was an alright car

I have a 74 Pinto and I love it! Of all the vehicles I've had the Pinto gets the most attention and love. Every day someone compliments the cars or has a story about how they had one as a first car. Not the best vehicle for an introvert 😂.
