Launch of NASA's James Webb Space Telescope

An Ariane 5 rocket is launching NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). JWST is the largest and most advanced space telescope ever built and will study every phase of cosmic history. Liftoff is scheduled for 7:20 a.m. Eastern (12:20 UTC) from the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana.

I work for the company that built all of the mirror segments, all of the deployment motors and all of the mirror position/focus mechanisms. We wont breathe freely until it is deployed and focused.

I set my alarm and got up early to watch the launch. It reminded me of being a kid again on Christmas morning so excited to go downstairs to open presents. Congratulations and gratitude to all those who made the JWST happen.
