You have taught me the most about writing than any other sources for this class. It's been great to see what I can write using your methods compared to my old style. Thank you Heimler, I really appreciate it.

i wish it was more intuitive lol. It would be so much easier if they honestly just "held our hands" by simply having questions about what they want for each step so we can answer it directly, but where each question basically builds up on each other one to just basically be an LEQ.

I usually always do wonderful on the MCQ but it always has to be the LEQ or DBQ to mess me up in my classes.

Im just going to use this format I made, and I will put it here in case anyone else finds it helpful.

1) Introduction

A)What is the historical context of the time period in question (1920s-1940s)?
B)What were some of the major developments, events, or trends that characterized this time period?
C) What is the specific prompt that you will be addressing in your essay (e.g. "To what extent did the Great Depression and the New Deal transform American society and politics in the 1930s?")?

2) Thesis and roadmap

A) What is your thesis statement, which should directly respond to the prompt and preview your main arguments?
B) What are the main arguments that you will be making to support your thesis?

3) Body paragraphs

A) What is your topic sentence for the first body paragraph, which should introduce one of your main B) arguments and provide evidence to support it?
C) What specific historical evidence (e.g. events, documents, statistics) can you use to support your argument?
D) How does this evidence illustrate continuity or change over time within the time period?
E) What is your analysis or explanation of how this evidence supports your argument and contributes to your overall thesis?
F) How does this argument relate to the next argument you will be making in the next body paragraph?

Conclusion

A) What is your restated thesis, which summarizes your main arguments and addresses the prompt one final time?
B) What is the significance of your analysis and argument for understanding the historical context and period in question?
C) What are some broader implications or potential future developments that could result from the continuity or change you have identified?

Hey Steve! Like most people, my APUSH teacher brought me here as I have an LEQ on historical period 7 tomorrow 🥲

But, what also brought me here was seeing you appear my school’s newspaper!

I read a full Q and A interview and it blew my mind how passionate you are about educating history but also learning in itself. It’s pretty inspiring when you see an educator who truly loves what they do :D

My favorite part was when you mentioned how there are few other professions where one can receive as much praise for their work as yours, and how it’s a gift, and also how you’d love for high schoolers to see the beauty in poetry
(😅 which makes me realize I’ve only ever read Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven)

Thus, I really felt inclined to praise you for your historical and relevant content that nearly everyone in my school refers to when we need help, and also to tell anyone else who reads this that you’re a genuine dude who responds quickly to the curiosity of a high school paper 👍
thank you Heimler’s History!

I just got a flashback to last year's APUSH LEQ with those prompts LOL. I'm in AP World now and I got a 3 on the APUSH exam last year but man I was so done by then that I just wrote some garbage about gold God and glory for that first prompt and somehow walked away with college credit.
