Dear the lead designer of Toyota, I hereby apologise for calling your cars as bland and boring. Please forgive my mistakes and stop torturing my eye with your newer models, I have learned my lesson.

My current 2017 Prius has a top end of 115 MPH. My 300 HP V-6 Mustang computer shuts off the gas to the motor at 107 MPH. Yep, My Prius is faster than my Mustang.

It's a car made for people who could not give less shits about cars and what they are driving, as long as it is practical, economic and reliable. The Prius jokes are fun, but just being straight up hateful and negative towards a car that is not even made for car people is just pathetic.

Thinking of buying one just to piss off some "car enthusiast". A real car guy appreciates all cars. Jokes are fine, but hating on this car is ridiculous.

I used to swear by German car brands until I drove Prius for month . Changed my whole outlook towards car . Reliability, comfort, efficient . You wouldn’t believe it until you buy one . It grows on you .. unbelievable engineered machine

I want a Prius but my father will laugh at me. He got a GTR... i'm more about that fuel economy.

Toyota made an extra effort to make Prius as hideous as possible.

Why everyone hating the Prius! Not everyone wants an expensive to buy, expensive to repair car, when you just drive to work, home and simple places! 🙄

I never imagined owning a Prius, but after my wife just had to have it - we love it! The best and most reliable car (other than Saab) we ever had! Literally unbreakable. Silly simple, drives like a dream, fits the kids in the back and leaves enough space for extensive shopping. Actually, I'm looking for a second one to replace my car!

If you guys hate this car so much why did you waste your precious time watching a review on it? Not that I like it particularly but still.

I'd say the main reason people probably want a 12v socket in the boot is to power a dash cam stuck to the rear window.

can we talk about how you held your poor Uber driver hostage just to make this video

Well, people like me that buy used cars still need these videos several years down the line, so thanks Matt. This is still too expensive for me, so I got a gen 3. If Toyota had said it was a phenomenal automatic transmission with a car wrapped around it, I’d have bought it ten years earlier. The ‘droning’ under hard acceleration is actually exactly the same as a normal automatic except the rpm is constant and there’s no ‘peak’ to be reached. Once you realise what Toyota has done, is to simply make the petrol engine run at about: idle; 1/4 speed; 1/2 speed; 3/4 speed; full speed; you realise it’s because petrol engines are quite poor in terms of what they offer. 80% of the energy put in, comes out as heat, you only get 20% out as power to a shaft. Petrol engines, make great boilers.

The transmission has no cones, pulleys or friction faces to wear, the e-CVT is robust, not fragile and nothing like CVT at all, so it’s a misnomer really, in some ways. Doesn’t even have a ‘slush box’ or torque convertor ( sort of a liquid clutch) with its impellers. Much better. Never had an automatic that didn’t develop a fault by about 130, 000 miles. This e-CVT only has an emergency clutch ‘in case’ and in normal use, there are only constantly-meshed gears. Keep changing the engine oil, every 7, 000 miles max or less, keep changing the transmission fluid every 45, 000 miles or less, and there isn’t too much to sweat about. This is the most reliable car probably, I ever bought. Sure, it still has to surpass my VW Passat auto 4-speed’s 193, 000 miles, but that was a landmark era, before DPF’s strangled diesels.

This car might fail, but it’s designed and built not to, and every indication is it’s one of the best engineered cars in the world. Original transmission idea was in Berkeley University USA, then GM bought it, then sold the patent to Toyota. It is basically a differential, as far as I can see - the three inputs/outputs are the giveaway - Motor-Generator 1, MG2, and the petrol engine, interplay to provide the final driveshaft power and speed. It’s a marvel. Take care all.

People who complain about the Prius are losers. As if it was the only car in the world they could choose... It's much more reasonable to make constructive criticism than simply making fun of it for not looking and driving like a Mustang or whatever.
It's like getting all upset because they also serve healthy sandwiches at a restaurant, instead of only serving greasy burgers.
