I'm an extremely intense person and I drive a Prius. Why? Because I intensely like an extremely reliable car that saves me money. I'm literally funding my toddlers college savings plan with the cash I'm saving on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. Unlike a lot of people who waste money on other expensive and ineffective cars that depreciate like a rock. Rational people with priorities drive cars like Prius. Teenage boys want trucks that cost 50k and never tow or haul because of "image" and "feelings"

I just bought a 2012 from the original owner and honestly, a well maintained prius is unironically a car guys perfect daily. Because it's so dependable and reliable, with very little maintenance outside of basic oil changes, etc, it means a car guy can enjoy wrenching on his fun cars, while having a daily that won't frustrate him with frequent repairs like a lot of other cars in its price range. No belts, no alternator, no starter, and super cheap on gas. Case in point, the guy I bought my prius from, has a c8 vette in his garage, and a 69 f150 he's restoring.

"People who don't have egos drive a Prius."

Highest mileage gen 1 prius I've ever seen was 460, 000 miles. Still ran great.

I just got a 2009 with 154k miles. Now I paid a premium but the reason was because it came from the dealership and I had all the records and 1 owner + it had water pump, hybrid battery, and 12 volt battery all replaced relatively recent. It’s in excellent condition. I knew someone took care of it.

I learned to drive on a 2009 Prius. It had 118, 000 miles on it when it got wrecked. Great cars

He’s spot on about librarians liking Priuses and the rubik’s cube kid being very content and secure with themselves. Lol.

My 2008 passed 200k not too long ago. It still works flawlessly, besides a cylinder misfire a few months back. The MPG is great and it's very comfy

Dude if you think 101k is high on a Prius. Mine has got 289k miles and it runs and drive perfectly!

You never picked the car as if it was a $300, 000 luxury car. For its year and what it is I think it’s outstanding.

In love with my reliable Generation 2, 2008 Prius, with 170, 000 miles. Bought new 25K 10/2007. Excellent shape, since its garage kept. Original Battery perhaps due to less corrosion on the hybrid battery connections? Has additional front and rear running lights. The HID headlights failed but replaced them myself by feeling my way with my hand and did not have to take the bumper off. They are much brighter than the originals. Replace the 12V battery twice. New water pump. New left front bearing. 2 New PVC valve replacement. Fix a leak in the air-conditioning system. Cleaned hybrid battery fan with an added cleanable filter screen at the air intake. Sometimes the dash lights go out when the weather gets cold then will go back on within 50 miles of driving. Heard it’s cold solder joints on the electronics? Went 90K 10yr. with the energy saver Defender Michelin tires and replaced them with the regular Defender Michelin tires. Loss a few miles per gallon but handles better and a softer ride maybe due to new thread. The Prius is used for long trips only with an average mileage of 50+ MPG. Short trips are by bike, feet and public transit all year. It’s a beautiful sports car Barcelona RED and a sleeping camping car with a 6’ bed with great cargo capacity. Adding a portable inverter makes a 115 Volt generator for back up efficient home power with the on and off cycle of the engine. The Princess Prius is a tough survivor like the princess cat in the movie “The Incredible Journey”. The beautiful large dash display is ahead of its time with sharp graphics like a space ship. Ran out of gas, and a whole dashboard lit up including the triangle of death (indicates serious malfunction - do something now!). Fortunately filled up 1/2 mile away before the battery became too low. Never again!!
It’s an adventure reliable stealth vehicle that slips through the air quietly! The best smooth styling of all the model years. Definitely a incognito James Bond vehicle with secret abilities never to be underestimated. So watch out!!! Soon it will become a classic antique with appreciating value

This is what I have been waiting for. I’m looking at getting a hybrid but can’t afford a new one and I want to see what a high mileage hybrid is like

My biggest flex is that I've never hated this car. I'm a car Enthusiast like everybody else here, and I've always thought the Prius was a cute little car that got amazing gas mileage! Hell even when I was a kid I never understood why this car got so much hate. It's not meant for fast driving. It's not meant to be powerful. It's literally just a city car with 98 horsepower that's meant to get you from point A to point B. Nothing more, nothing less. I really never understood why a lot of car enthusiasts hated on this car like it was their worst enemy or something. They really treated this car like it killed their mother or some shit, and it's absolutely hilarious seeing everybody have a nervous breakdown at the very sight of a Prius. 💀

If you have never owned one of the 2nd gen prius's. ..you wont understand why they are great until you do. I used to hate them until i got one to just roadtrip a few years back. Now ive had 3 of these throughout the years and now i own the 2022 Prius XLE Nightshade and i totally love it. Haven't been able to get myself away from them ever since lol

2012 with 240k . I just did an oil analysis and the engine was actually doing better than the average results from the same engine. the results were literally perfect and I can expect it to last years to come! You just have to change the oil regularly and clean the egr valve every 30k.

What happens after 100k miles : You get ready to change the engine oil at your next service date, top up some fluids and that's it.
