YouTube 'Ad Injections' Are Breaking Ad Blockers

In this video I discuss how YouTube is experimenting with injecting targeted ads directly into content to bypass modern adblockers. We may be heading into an era where machine learning adblockers are required to block these kinds of ads, and they may be vulnerable to data poising like other AI models.

I’m fully convinced that the way ads are implemented on the internet is overly invasive and only so because of outdated legal procedures, can you imagine if you encountered someone in a park yelling about hot singles in your area and when you try to look away a cop pulls you aside and tells you what your doing is illegal and then the man yelling bumps into you and forces you to share some personal information like the way tech companies gather data on you to give to advertisers

The funny thing is YouTube doing unskippable ads is a gateway to many people learning and using Adblock, if they had stuck with banner ads then they could’ve made a lot more since people wouldn’t bother using Adblock

Man we used to have a 5s skippable ad only and a banner a decade ago. Now we have unskippable 50s on tvs and 3-8 midrolls in 30 mins. That is why we block ads.

It's pretty simple. You know how YouTube automatically detects a copyrighted song as soon as you upload?
The adblocker developers could simply host a repository of ad videos and then run the user's ad detector program against it.
So as soon as Google releases a new ad, someone records it, uploads it to the adblock ad repository, and then bam, now every user who has that adblock installed is going to skip that ad.
You don't need smart machine learning to detect new ads, just one that detects the frames & sound waves of an existing ad someone uploaded as the main reference.
Even when you play the video, it buffers ahead a little bit, so the adblock could "watch" ahead of you and then cut the ad out when it picks up the ad.
