Tree Climbing Tips: Quick QUICKIE SRT Redirect!

In this video, Abdon demonstrates how to apply a retrievable SRT redirect. Redirects help us achieve a desired rope angles and can optimize our work positioning. However, not every situation will call for a redirect that requires the need for extra hardware but when it does call for something like that, it's good to have a bag of tricks for such occasions.

Love this little trick. Just keep in mind that 3x the rope is being introduced from you to the redirect. Make sure the redirect branch is strong because if it were to fail you’re going to fall 3x the distance. Climb safe climb smart.

Just got my first Notch Quickie so this redirect will come in handy! I've been skeptical to the Quickie as it's not approved for PPE in Europe (yet), but it's literally the same locking bolt as the rope wrench part of the RRP which is CE approved.
But wow, no sunglasses? I'm not used to this.

Love it. How is your top anchor tied in to be retrievable as well?

Make more videos of double crouching with a moving rope system u guys did one with Chris but make another video that’s longer maybe explaining like what could be bad rope angles for trying to double crotch with a moving rope system do you get me?

Could you do the redirect with a carabiner that has a wire captive eye instead of a notch quicky? I was thinking the RockO captive.
For a locking shackle, I have the ISC ultra link instead of the quckie. According to manufacturer's instructions, with their shackle you aren't supposed to have the running end of a choker on the pin unless you have the sheave installed. Looks like the rope would be running on both ends of the shackle in the choker used in this redirect. I don't normally use the sheave with the ultra link because I don't have a good way to store it on my harness.

Is that quicky double auto locking? I can't believe those are supposed to be safer..

I suppose you could use a steel carabineer in place of a quickie... Also... Slight mechanical advantage... Just 3:1!!!😅😅😅

I can find belay carabiners with the lower spring gate and carabiners with upper and lower pulleys but even on DMM's site I do not see a locking carabiner witha pulley and a lower swing gate? Are these particular DMM carabiners no longer made?
