You could do that with a ring and ring which would be less gear intensive for new folks who don’t have all the extra kit starting out as well as being a very essential piece for many other applications. Learn and use the technique and expand as they get more gear. Thx for sharing 👍

It's nice that it is retrievable for SRS. I prefer to redirect the rope through that union without any hardware. Although, I'm always looking for a good excuse to buy shiny toys like that Revolver Rig.

Good stuff! Thats an overhand knot, not a half hitch. If you want to have an adjustable length sling try using a PAS system. Ive used the metolius PAS with a ring on one side and a revolver on the other just like this and it works great.

Very cool man I’ve got all those things on my saddle already. Bought the revolver specifically for a s.c.a.m redirect but this is honestly a lot simpler.

I like this but what would be a good redirect on vertical branch with no limbs or knots? Should you cut a small grove but even then I wouldn’t want to trust it from not slipping?

Curious rock climber here... why not just put middle of the rope where he put the sling and two strand rappel off that and then pull one strand down?

Or if he wanted to single strand wrap, tie a figure 8 on a bite on one strand and clip that to the other strand under the branch and rappel on the "fixed" side?

Please if yall could explain to me why this would be dumb that would be super helpful

I do this but with a DMM ultra and a DMM perfecto for the retrieval. There’s no point in having expensive pulleys with SRT

Is it still retrievable if both limbs are going straight up? I put my rope very high sometimes and I'd be so mad if it got stuck. I use Blake's hitch old skool knot.

Tie throwline to the tail when you retrieve it so your expensive redirect doesnt free fall

Ok, that is pretty sqeet actually. I hadn't actually looked at the retrieval part of the full video. That'd even work with a regular carabiner in place of the revolver
