Interior doors are hollow...🤯

🙋‍♂️ Want more Home Building tips and ideas…?

💸 If the budget is tight, I’m skipping out on solid core doors on the inside.
I’ll still go with interior wall insulation for bathrooms, bedroom, and laundry because you can’t go back to add that later. I’ll deal with the noise transfer through the door until I can afford the solid core door.
I think we’d all upgrade to solid core if budget wasn’t a concern.

🤔 What’s are your thoughts about interior solid core doors?

Solid core for my house. Hollow core for everyone else.

Curse the builder that decided to use hollow core doors, 1 sheet of 1/2 inch drywall with no insulation in all of our bathrooms. You can hear someone suffering from taco bell late night.

Hollow doors are horrible, you hear everything and everyone hears everything, no privacy, can't sleep. Worse thing ever made.

Hollow core are great stress relievers. Solid core are great at anger management.

Career, Custom G.C. here. Haven’t used HC interior doors in a home I’ve built for over 30 years, even the lower / mid price point. As an upwards trending homeowner, receiving HC doors, is when it really sinks in that you’re under contract with a real production grade / cost conscious builder. JS

Solid wood, not just solid core in my house. Knotty alder from the clearance rack does the job perfectly.

Solid. Always. One house was a 9k upgrade, one house was a 4k upgrade but definitely not a place to cut the budget. You’ll appreciate your decision every time you open and close one.

We replaced all our bedroom and bathroom doors with solid core. We replaced the closet doors with hollow core.

Hollow for closets, solid for everything else...

After my home was finished being built I found that out and was mad! No sound privacy and not safe if there's a fire. Had every one replaced.

That "solid core" door he showed is an exterior fiberglass door filled with foam. Why not just show an actual solid core door like you're describing instead of something else entirely?

I found out about hollowcore doors when I was a kid. I stubbed my toe in the bathroom and out of anger grabbed and threw a hairbrush down the hallway and it stuck handle first into the hallway closet door like a dart in a dartboard 😂😂

As an european carpenter I'm crying right now; the cheapest low level door here is more solid than that

I hate hollow core doors, bought a house last year. Once we have the budget will be upgrading all the doors to solid doors.

My grandparents house had a wood door with 5 glass sections in it. It was between the den and the kitchen. I could have the stereo cranked up in the den and that door blocked a lot of the sound. This was before double pain window technology.

I've seen that door stop hole on the other side.... through the trim.

No problem with hollow core doors generally, but maybe not for a bathroom door.

Nobody wants hollow core doors. Most people don't want the price tag that goes with solid doors.
