I think it is fairly compareable to here in California.

Considering almost all your food is imported, it's not that bad. What is the average salary in Greenland?

While expensive, that’s much better than anything I expected! I was expecting Hawaii-level grocery prices! 🙀

Something everyone can identify with is groceries. Very nice store. Food looks very fresh having traveled so far to reach you.

Those prices are comparable to grocery stores here in NC.

Those prices are comparable to what I pay for groceries here in Florida in the US. I am from Hawaii and I think the price of groceries there now is even more expensive than they are in Greenland.

Grapes here in Greece may cost more... You know that Greece produces grapes of course...

In some places in the USA the prices are some or close to that. Qujanaq for sharing!

Some items are waaay more than here in Massachusetts, others are fairly comparable. Your overall total is comparable, though. Maybe even slightly cheaper.

It is fully natural to see some of those brands there, after all Greenland is an outpost (if I may use that expression, no bad intention, just looking from the Nordic-Swedish point of view 😅) of Denmark, and COOP in Scandinavia was united into COOP Norden for a couple of years, but seeing 'Änglamark' (the toilet paper), as Swedish as anything can be, gave a strange feeling 😂!

'Änglamark' means 'Angel land', and the word itself comes from a song written by the Swedish national treasure among troubadours, Evert Taube (1890 - 1976). The song was written as a comment on exploitation of nature (and specifically building a new power plant in one of the few remaining untouched rivers in Sweden. It still is untouched!) and for a Swedish movie, 'Äppelkriget' ('The Apple War').

It begins:
"Kalla den Änglamarken eller Himlajorden om du vill, jorden vi ärvde och lunden den gröna,

Vildrosor och blåklockor och lindblommor och kamomill, låt dem få leva, de är ju så sköna"

"Call it the angels land or the heaven Earth, if you like, the land we inherited, and the green grove

Wild roses and blue bells and linden flowers and chamomile,
let them live, they are so beautiful"

COOP got permission to use "Änglamark" for their new brand of environmental friendly products, using it since 1991.

Can't remember the last time I only spent 70 bucks in the groceries.

I’m happy you’re able to get groceries in Greenland at prices similar to the US and Canada. As a kid I lived in a US territory where all the food in the grocery stores was shipped in the from the mainland so it was very expensive and my family couldn’t afford much. Luckily it was a tropical island with wonderful soil so we had a great garden and fruit trees and never went hungry. :) I saw in one of your posts that you have a nice garden too but I’m happy you don’t need it to survive.
