Today is 10/15/2022. I have yesterday ordered off ebay a 2017 publishing of the CSB. After watching this, and Mark Ward's videos on this version, I'm waiting with baited breath for it to arrive!! Thanks you for these great videos! I'm going to have to add another shelf in my library! Got a Douay-Rheims coming as well. And I'm not even Catholic! But I am a bible nerd!!

Great video, as always. I have been reading some from the CSB recently and I definitely think it is better in certain ways than the NIV.

Once again, you've done a very good job. My Scripture of choice is done in the CSB. The study Bible of my choice is the CSB Study Bible. It really does have a marvelous collection of both data and devotional . I have arrived at this level from the NIV Study Bible and the Macarthur Study Bible. The CSB Study Bible simply does a better job. Thank you very much for your ministry.

I'm in the "more literal" camp!
These comparative videos are very helpful. Thank you.
And I like grammatically correct. No "them/they" for one person.

Thank you, Tim. You have affirmed good reasons to justify my appreciation of the CSB Translation.

My 1984 NIV doesn’t have these issues, but my 2011 does. Too bad they don’t continue to publish the older versions of the NIV the way they do the NASB.

I actually just recently before this video, ordered a CSB Bible and I was planning on driving into it. I read KJV, NKJV, NIV A LOTTTT and I love the NLT too.

I'm still just getting acquainted with the CSB but I agree that it appears to be more accurate than the NIV. I like the footnotes in the CSB as well. Good review as usual.

With the CSB moving up that bestselling translations list it may soon pass the ESV for second place. It’s actually more popular now then when this video was made.

Hello. This is an excellent video. I have been comparing several translations including the CSB and the NIV and ended up picking the CSB as a main translation I use. One of the primary reasons is because of the abundant footnotes. Have you ever looked at some of the less well known translations? For example the DLNT, or the MLV. Thank you for all the work you do, God bless.

I hope you'll do this little series with the NKJV

These are actually my favourite 2 translations. I like the NIV's clarity, but I also like the CSB's translation philosophy and not sticking with the traditional wording if they can make it more accurate, John 3:16 is a great example. Usually I read the NIV as my default translation because I'm in the UK, and the NIV has an Anglicised version in my Bible app. The CSB's has an Anglicised version as well, but it hasn't been released electronically yet, but once it is in my Bible app I'll be using the CSB a lot more, in fact it'll probably replace the NIV as my default translation.

No translation is better than any, see the values behind making each of them, who it was made for if you understand niv go ahead and read it, if you understand Csb go ahead and read it, the best translation for you is the one you are actually going to read

The more I read the CSB, the more I like it. I have the Tony Evans Study Bible, the Life Essentials Study Bible & The Apologetics Study Bible—all CSB.

Thanks again for another excellent video!! I would have to admit that I am an NIV person. But I think I will check out the CSB to see if I like it enough to switch to the CSB. Again thank you for your video’s

When the OT is quoted in the NT, it is highlighted bold. That's unique. Although NASB comes with making them all caps, CSB's way of making the text bold appeals more to the eyes. That's a plus on CSB's part.

Love your videos I currently use the CSB for study but have all the other translations. Esv niv kjv nkjv amp. I just think the use the translation that you read and use others for comparison. 🙏

I enjoyed the video, but I would offer comment on a couple points. First, 1 Tim 2:12. The Greek word "authentein" does not mean simply "authority." Authentein is a rare Greek word, this is the only time in the entire Bible it's used. Paul easily could have used the ordinary word for authority (exousia), if that's what he meant to say. Obviously I have my own opinion on what he meant, as I'm sure you do, but since we're discussing Bible translation I'm just concerned with the technical meaning of the word itself. So, WHATEVER he meant, it wasn't the authority itself that's the problem. That's why it's all over the map in English translations. KJV had "usurp" NIV is "assume" ESV is "exercise" and as you note CSB is "have." It's just not an easy word to render. :) So I give the NIV a pass on this one, unless you can tell me that YOU know how to perfectly translate authentein. (Louw and Nida’s Greek-English Lexicon, something of a gold standard here, indicates the fuller meaning is "to control in a domineering manner.") Second point I would comment on is your last one, unique editions of the Bible. Oh my goodness! The NIV is so popular and it's used in so MANY different editions of the Bible. You might like the Spurgeon Bible or the Apologetics Study Bible, but the NIV crushes the CSB when you compare the various editions of the Bible that are uniquely available in that translation. I do agree completely with your other three points, however, and I look forward to hearing your 5 reasons why NIV > CSB. That should be fun. Enjoy your videos. Don't take my comment the wrong way. I'm just a bit of a translation nerd, as you are, and love the discussion of how things are rendered in different translations.
