Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the West has created the collapse of its own energy sectors by sanctioning Russian-linked companies and individuals.

He also added that countries helping Ukraine "are falsely telling their own citizens that Russia is to blame".

It's true, we did. The UK economy took a huge hit cutting business links with Russia.

(West 'punished themselves' with sanctions on Russia) this is actually really true. everything is more expensive...some countries in the West have also found loopholes to be able to continue importing from Russia. USA still buys wood, for example.

Petrol prices have gone down, so yes we did weather a storm but the storm is over and we have switched to reliable energy partners who aren't a military threat.

I'm from Scotland and yes the cost of living has went up and the sanctions have impacted negatively on us but I would rather have less food and be a bit colder rather than sitting back and doing nothing and just letting Russia just invade a peaceful country like Ukraine. The sanctions wouldn't have been put in place if Russia hadn't invaded Ukraine in the first place. We all must play our part and maybe even suffer a little bit if that's what it takes to stand up to Putin. The sanctions have definitely had a negative effect on Russia. Unfortunately it's civilians who suffer and Putin doesn't care about the Russian people which is a shame but I think we were hoping the Russian people would get angry at the sanctions and see how Putins decisions have ruined things for Russia and revolt. We cannot just sit back and allow countries to invade each other for no reason and do nothing about it. Putin won't stop at Ukraine. He will keep going and it could be your country invaded next so we all must do what we can including suffering the cost of living rising and do what we can to stop this genocide. I feel empathy for Ukraine and Russia because NOBODY wants this war except from Putin and both countries are losing its people for absolutely nothing. Slava Ukraini ❤

I mean the cost of basic groceries has literally gone up 15-30 %, electricity more than doubled or tripled. Yeah, blowing up the nordstream was really bad. Even if its not the only cause for these things. But companies sure love using the blanket excuse "uh logistics".

No but like partly he is saying truth. War in ukraine started in 2014 and last for 8 years until 2022 but the west become more dependent on russian fossil fuel during that time. I have that feeling that soviet union collapses and now EU going the same way.
