How to choose DisplayPort Cable

1 specification is all you need & that's DisplayPort Version! DisplayPort = DP

For example you could buy Amazon Basics DP Version 1.4 for £5.88. But if you'd scroll down a bit lower, you'll see DP Version 1.2 for £7.99 (£10 before discount). BUT MORE EXPENSIVE EVEN AFTER DISCOUNT. Lower version is more expensive - AVOID! Don't buy a lower version at a higher price! DP 2.1 makes sense to be more expensive than DP 1.4. Further down in the DisplayPort search on Amazon. WOW! DP 1.4 FOR £31.26! THAT'S WHY I MADE THIS VIDEO - so that you won't buy overprized DisplayPorts!

Common DisplayPort versions
DP 1 - 2006 (First introduced)
DP 1.2 - 2010 (MAX 4K @60Hz)
DP 1.4 - 2016 - MAX 8K @60Hz (most monitors)
DP 2.1 - 2022 - MAX 16K @60Hz (rarely available monitors)

How to know which version DP to buy?
Resolution & Refresh Rate together determine the amount of data that DP needs to support.
DP 1.4 = MAX 8K @60Hz (most monitors)
DP 2.1 = MAX 16K @60Hz

How to check DisplayPort is working at the maximum resolution?
Right click on your desktop & select Display Settings and check your display resolution. Note: 3840 x 2160 = 4K resolution
