didn't know I needed DisplayPort 1.2 so I was on 144hz for the last 2 years, as my monitor was 165hz so needed a cable of DisplayPort 1.2 or higher omggg wow. Great video and explanation.

I remember the days of black and white (or amber or green) "graphics". Then I got a TI99/A with 16 colors, it changed my life. Then they came up with 64 colors which put me in heaven. Once the went to 256, they lost me, I cannot differentiate so many colors.

If I connect the video card that has DP version 1.4 to the monitor with version 1.2, could the image quality be affected, especially in games like MSFS 2020? Yes, I suspect that it will downscale everything of 1.2, but I wonder if it loses quality at 1080p?

As of Thursday 11/3/2022 AMD has released the new Radeon 7800 XTX and it does support
Display Port 2.1, 12 bit Color range and can do 4K at 480 Hz refresh rate !!
Now we need a new PC gaming monitor that can match these new specs.
