Until you are driving 800 miles across Montana in winter at -22 and don't want to get out. 3 trips a year 2450 miles one way. In my truck I drive 650 miles, pull over fill up, 10 min stop, drive 600 miles and fill up and stop for 8 hour rest and then repeat the same the next day. A car with less than 600 miles of usable range to me is a joke. Also you act like your car is holding you hostage with a big tank. You should have enough common sense to stop when you need for. Also just thought of another reason for 600 to 800 miles of range. That is less stops overall so more availability of chargers. Also if you have an 800 mile battery you can charge faster and get more range during the sweet spot and charge 450 to 500 miles of range in 20 min or so and continue on your trip. There are hundreds of reasons for longer range and only a few not very well thought out reasons for limited range. The biggest and best reason for long range is why the hell not. If I could get vehicle with 2000 miles of range I would enjoy not having to fill up all the damn time, or plug in in the case of electric cars.
