even with a home phone that used to be on my network I did vlans one for data one for voice one for vms one that only had isp1 traffic I could test with and second isa also had its own lan then I have anther lan for all isa traffic to combine all of my sips into one as a test and when needed I will use it and I have QOS setup for voice and VPNS and other important inbound traffic it works well

May want to redo this video since port profile has changed a bit in the last couple of updates.

I would like you to retell LLDP-MED as in your old video. Thank you.

Would like to see a video on setting up a VoIP network in 2024. Do all Unifi gateway models support this today?

We are not against voice vlan's. But we cannot see a quality issue between vlan voip and mixed voip. You can still do qos in the firewall. *Yealink phones with cloud voip.

This is great stuff. I have my switch profile set, everything setup like this, the phone even gets a VLAN tag when it requests but it never gets an IP from the UDM SE and I can't figure it out

Nice. Been looking for that vlan pass through on the phone.

When creating a voice network it automatically creates an un-editable switch port voice profile. Anyway to simply use whats automatically created?

Im about ready to convert my home 6202 PBX and 3 voip phones to my voice vlan, so all I need to do is change the IP address's of the PBX and phones from my default LAN to static address's in my voice VLAN. im running pfsense and Unify Switches and AP's at home, all was working good on the default vlan, but for the reasons you mentioned im going to convert over!

Mr. Howe, Im a midrange engineer and i have problems with VLANS, just never set right in my head. My Network is using a USG Pro 3 appliance with a vlan capables switch. My setup is as follows USG --> Switch --> VOIP PHONE --> PC. I understand your video and it was VERY useful except I want to route the Data over Default (vlan-1) and VOIP traffic from phones over vlan 41. Will your explaination work copy/paste on my network. Im having performance anxiety on this and truly am reaching out for a Hey don't do that or Yes this configuration should work. ANY advice would be GREATLY appreciated sir! thanks! justin

Nice video. Is there a setting that prioritizes traffic for this VLAN to prevent dropped packets? Also, why use a port profile over just assigning the port to the VLAN?

Great info. I already had a VLAN for my VoIP phones, but I did not have a Voice port profile set up. I have a UDM SE and the options are a bit different than what you show. I am also unclear as how to set this new port profile that I have just created to my phone. What firewall rules need to be set up or does the Port Profile take care of this for you?

Would you recommend the newer enterprise switches for an office of 50 people with voip phones that their computers also connect to? We currently have older Aruba switches that need replacing. Thanks

I have the UniFi Dream Machine SE, but I don't see that PROFILES option, is it different?

I have an IP speaker system that is integrated into our security system software. I would like to allow my phones to be on the same VLAN to allow for paging from phones to speakers. Do you see these as being an issue, if so how would you suggest resolving to (a) allow communication from phones to speakers and (b) allow the security team to still see both the speaker & camera system?

Is this as critical when the voip is only a pots line in and the phones are internal voip only?

Thanks for the video Willie. I've been doing an install with Talk and Talk Touch phones, trying to get them working on their own vlan and I was running into problems (date/time not correct, not showing up on the console, etc) so I submitted a support ticket and Ubiquiti told me to work properly the phones have to be on the same vlan/network with the console running Talk. Have you successfully done an install with phones segregated on their own vlan?
