A little bit about me:
Hi I'm Purple Ella and my family is an autism family with three out of five of us on the autistic spectrum. I also have a connective tissue disorder (hypermobile Ehlers-danlos syndrome). So life can be a challenge but also a lot of fun.

I always knew something was wrong with me, and one day on Reddit I read someone experience with Inattentive ADHD and it described be to a T. It was like, "Oh, something finally makes sense. I'll go see a doctor." Well... I told my husband my concerns, and he thinks it's all in my head. I think if he saw how much I struggle at work, he'd believe it more. He supports me seeing a doctor if that's what I want, but being invalidated that way destroyed my confidence to seek out a diagnosis. Doesn't have to be ADHD, I just want to know what's wrong with me. I'm so scared the doctor will say it's all in my head too, and that would be so embarrassing. It's incredibly discouraging. I just don't know what to do.

You tube How to ADHD is great. The presenter speaks very fast so I watch it at a slower speed so I can catch all the words.

A huge thank you for this video - I have really been looking forward to this one and, as always is the case with your videos, it was clear, informative and very helpful. I have suspected for some while that I may have ADHD alongside my autism. Until I watched your original video on the subject the possibility never crossed my mind as I had a narrow, stereotypical view of the the condition. You inspired me to do more research and, as I read more about ADHD in adult women, I recognised those traits in myself. I am so pleased that your diagnosis has helped you to improve your life as it has led to a better upstanding of yourself and given you access to medication. After watching your video I have made the decision that I too will go down the private route as the NHS waiting list in my area is so long and I am too impatient to wait! I spent 56 years without even the knowledge that I was autistic and, since my diagnosis of autism in 2013, I have been more accepting and kinder to myself and have been able to access the help that I need. Thank you so much for speaking about ADHD - I hope that should I be diagnosed with ADHD that I will be able to improve the quality of my life still further. I agree wholeheartedly with a previous comment that what you do is amazing and yes, you are a great resource. X

So happy for you!!! Having the diagnosis makes everything make so much more sense! Pro tip: if you ever aren’t able to have your meds, the exact right amount of coffee can sometimes really help.
I’m about to start the process of asking for an autism assessment here in Canada as it would put together the rest of my missing pieces!

Yay! I've been unable to find basically anything about the ADHD and autism combo, even though I was diagnosed with both.

I was diagnosed with ADHD/ADD at the age of 8, and the diagnosis was confirmed as I kept growing and getting evaluations over the years. I sort of have always functioned with my brain the way it is for so long without treatment that I suppose I’ve convinced myself that my brain is “normal”, whatever that means. I kept denying my diagnosis to myself and not doing anything about it. But only recently have I realized, hey, I was diagnosed for a damn reason! And I deserve to seek help navigating my daily life with neurodiversity, because lately it’s really tough! I am exhausted. Only now am I accepting for myself as an adult that my normal is not necessarily what I thought it was.

So nice they give all the options you have now! When my daughter was diagnosed with adhd through school a few years ago they gave us absolutely no direction on where to start research or services we could access. They gave her a couple things for school IEP, but no help for us at home, no recommendations on anything including medications. So extremely frustrating!

dr. Gabor Maté talks and conferences (available here on youtube) are to me among the most worthy so far, he also has adhd and talks a lot about the causes and underlying dynamics in ways that you won't hear from your average specialist.

Thanks for sharing! I have been watching your videos for the past two years and have booked an ASD assessment for myself. I have also wondered about ADHD too. Proud of you!

I would find it interesting to hear how your autism and adhd affect each other, how they work together and how they don’t... please 😊

Thank you so much for all the content you put out there! Can you please make a video about common ASD traits you don’t have?

Hey, is there any way that you could share the private diagnosis route you went down for your ADHD assessment and how to access it? Many thanks, as always, super helpful 🤗

People cant understand why I felt relief after my ADHD diagnosis. It’s been a frustrating life not understanding why i process and experience life so diferently than everyone else

I randomly came across your videos today and my goodness our lives do have a SIGNIFICANT amount of overlap: I’m Pan with ADHD (just diagnosed!) married (to a man) with two kids- one on the autism spectrum and one nonbinary, both with ADHD. Did that make sense?
Anyway... looking forward to binging on all your videos. Cheers!!!
