DNA Demethylation mechanisms | Part 2 | Epigenetics | GATE/CSIR-NET

Показать описание
In the previous video, we explained DNA demethylation, which refers to removing a methyl group from a methylated cytosine in DNA, which can affect gene expression and genome stability. This video is the continuation of it.
The mechanisms involved in DNA demethylation are crucial for regulating gene activity and maintaining cellular functions. The explained possible mechanisms are:
1. Direct removal of methyl group
2. Deamination of 5mC to T, followed by BER
3. NER-mediated excision of methylated DNA patch
4. TET enzyme-mediated oxidation of 5mC
