Xbox headed to Germany this week where the company announced new release dates for many top tier titles. While Xbox gamers have a lot to be excited about, the details are starting to make it clear that the console falls second to everything else.

- Less third party games going to Xbox means even less people will buy an Xbox

- Sony raises prices for games and consoles, starts taking a bigger cut for games sold on their platform.

It doesn't make sense how they announced Indy for the PS5. Why do this here at Gamescom? How does it help XBox or Microsoft? Use the game, if its any good, to sell some consoles and Gamepass subscriptions this Holiday. If you get one PS5 user to buy an XBox or join Gamepass because they want to play Indy then you've succeeded. You can announce the PS5 version after the new year. You're not getting any more sales by announcing the PS5 version early. Nobody is budgeting for Indy coming in the Spring! Whoever is making these decisions should be kicked out of the room and have their access revoked.

The thing that pisses me off is that their communication about all of this has been non-existent, apart from that weird short video a few months ago that only seemed to happen because their brand was melting down online for about two weeks - but even then, they took great pains to minimize things as much as possible. It was "only" four games that had been out for a long time, blah blah blah. Spencer even confirmed Indiana Jones wasn't one of them.

Then we hear nothing for months, while rumours and reports continue to swirl about games being considered, with zero comment from them at all. And then they drop this on their userbase - the first notable big release since Starfield after months of nothing, and it's getting four months of exclusivity before it goes to PS5 anyway. And not only that, but the PS5 announcement is treated as the big reveal.

You wanna just become the next Sega? Okay. Give me the $500 back I paid for my Xbox, after foolishly investing in your platform believing you meant to actually deliver games I couldn't just play on my PS5 in a few months. Idiots.

You cannot tell console gamers to move to PC, it doesn't work that way.
Not only you need to buy new hardware, and I'm not talking about only the new PC, but you're also telling them to get away from their favorite manner of gaming.
Myself, I will never go to PC because I personally believe they give off way too many issues with troubleshooting for the amount of money I pour in. It's like buying a new luxury vehicle with a lot of issues.

My problem here isnt that indy is coming to Playstation. My problem is no first party Playstation titles other than MLB are coming to xbox. Playstation is getting all the games and xboxes unique library is shrinking.

PC is NOW the ultimate console. You get both Xbox and Playstation games in one spot. Then you also get PC exclusives, free online play, and cheaper games. Even Gamepass is nearly half the cost with day one releases. Surely, PC is the place to play. My first PC ever I built a few months ago, set it up like a console, and hooked up to my 65 in tv. Best decision imo.

Xbox as a platform is dead. It’s Microsoft gaming now. They didn’t lean into Xbox marketing for the biggest releases at Gamescom. They are definitely distancing themselves from the Xbox brand.

They definitely are going the Steam route… Ecosystem first, hardware/console sales second. Xbox’s biggest mistake this year was price gouging console only GamesPass.

If xbox want me to reset my expectations after purchasing their console and spending massive amounts over the past 15+ years, then they better reset their expectations of me staying with their brand. I've got a ps5, and it looks like I will not miss out if I were to sell my series X.

As someone whose last console purchase was an Xbox 360 - I legitimately ask myself "what's the point?" when it comes to either XBox or Playstation. Exclusives? I can wait, or just not play it. If Microsoft ever does another generation of console I hope it's a hybrid between a console and a PC and is the last console they do.

I think you need to realise that Xbox is banking on gamepass not the failing console business and as the call of duty deal and other acquisition deals mature it will become more evident that the platform will leave the console gaming behind and the masses will be attracted to the most accessible way of playing.
