As we near the end of the year, I like to look back at all of the books I read. Today we're talking about the ones I was not really a fan of, unfortunately. I'd love to hear about your least favorite reads of the year in the comments!

my least favorite books of this year:
harry potter and the cursed child (I know, I read it this year for the first time...)
eldest by christopher paolini, i read the first book, and really wanted to like it, and it was ok, and then i read the second book and DNFed it at 260 pages because NOTHING WAS HAPPENING and there was still like over 400 pages to go...
tales of beetle the bard by the one who shall not be named (it was just meh)
sythe by neal shusterman, i know you loved this but i was just bored and then when the romance started i just decided to DNF....

great video! ❤❤❤❤

If you didn't like S&D you probably won't like blood and honey. I LOVED serpent and dove... but B&H is so slow and boring. I don't even know if I'm going to finish the series.

I didn't read much this year, but my least favourite books were Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy (I'm so sad about that book. The premise and aesthetic was right up my alley but the writing style was so incomprehensible, I couldn't finish the book) and Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuinston (boring premise, characters were cringe and it was SO predictable. There was zero suspense or anything).

Ugh I agree with you on clap when you land. I love her other books but this book just did not work for me. So disappointing!

Naamah by Sarah Blake, Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo and In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

I felt the same about Her Pretty Face. I read it for another buddy read and we were all so disappointed. There was so much build up and then absolutely nothing happened. I unhauled it almost immediately after finishing it. Such a disappointment compared to The Arrangement. I haven’t even picked up The Swap yet because it made me so nervous that it could flop the same way.

Totally agree about The Guest List. I didn’t care about the story or characters and thought one of the major plot twists felt cheap. Maybe all of the different perspectives played into my feelings about this one?

I felt the same way about The Guest List. By the time I got to the middle, I had forgotten most of the beginning because it dragged on and on. I did like The Shadows thought. I agree, the ending lacked, but the majority of the book was amazingly creepy. I plan on reading The Whisper Man soon.

The Lying Game’s premise sounds interesting, sad it was a disappointment. Are there alternative titles you would recommend?

Not gonna lie, the way you felt about King of Crows is how I felt about Lair of Dreams. This series may not be for me.

I'm reading Before the Devil Breaks You at the moment and I'm struggling to motivate myself cuz I've heard such bad things about King of Crows

I did enjoy reading Mary Weber Siren series, and no, never read any of those books you have read. ATM, busy with Terry Pritchett books.

For me I loved Clap When You Land, but I haven't read any other books by Elizabeth Acevedo yet so I wonder if I read her other ones can come back to Clap When You Land if I will feel differently.

also really disliked The Guest List. I still haven't finished it. I want to know what happens in the end, but it is just so boring and the characters are awful for me.

Have you read Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro??? If you're looking for The Handmaid's Tale meets Westworld, that book is pretty up there. It is very literary tho, just to forewarn you
