I ALSO disliked "It's Kind of an Epic Love Story" - I didn't even finish it because it made me angry! Glad to see you also disliked it. Hahaha.

Books that feel like a waste of time are the worstttt. My personal least favorite books were the Shatter Me series. I just couldn’t

I'd completely forgotten about your January challenge, but as soon as you mentioned it was two books, I remembered the struggle of reading those. I haven't read any of these books, which I guess is a good thing, especially because a lot of what you mentioned as to why you didn't like them are things that would also definitely bother me.
I've read quite a few disappointing books, some of them I rated maybe 3* which isn't bad, but stings a bit when you go into a book expecting a new favorite. One that sticks out in my mind is The Proposal, mostly because I had somewhat enjoyed it until a certain plot point that was just stupid miscommunication that irritated me to no end and left me bitter upon finishing the book.

I'd love for you to do another challenge where brian picks your TBR. I loved the first one. :)

Fuck I feel that so hard about “this is kind of an epic love story”. I literally read it and thought I could handle it and holy shit did it ever put me into a horrible mindset. It literally made me feel shitty for like two weeks, I really regret reading it for exactly the same reason.
I honestly hate that it’s pitched and marketed as a cute love story when it’s really not yikes. So much regret about wasting my time on that book

Just commenting to say I love the way you say “Bryson” - such disdain! Such loathing! “Bry-son 😡" it was perfect. I didn't guess any of these, but I haven't been watching your channel for that long.

Thanks Cece. It's important for us to know about least favorite books so we know what's worth our while. Mine were Our Year f Maybe and You Asked For Perfect. I read each for their religious and bi rep but didn't like the characters or writing style. The experience taught me that when I read an new author I have to wait to hear my booktuber's thoughts on that book before I dive in.

While I respect your opinion, I personally absolutely loved The Devouring Gray. I’ve never read The Raven Cycle or watched Stranger Things, though, so I get how someone who is a fan of both of those things would be disappointed by it.

I personally didn’t like ‘These Witches Don’t Burn’. It was so predictable and the characters were just like...bland.

Aw, I’ve been meaning to check out Alex London after his cute short story “Indoor Kids” in It’s A Whole Spiel.

I'm still so thankful to you for suffering through black wings beating, and saving me the pain of giving Alex London another shot. I despised the book Proxy so much, I never bothered with the books after it. As for 2019 reads I couldn't stand, I'm still angry at hotdog girl. I wanted to love it, I wanted to laugh and enjoy it but the main character was awful, there's being immature because you're a teenager and then there is lacking any and all regard for not just the people around you, but the people you claim to love and value. I couldn't even keep forcing my way through it I was just miserable trying to read it.

I hate cheating and dislike reading about it, so thanks so much for the heads up! And for me Outlander had to be my most disappointing read of last year, followed up by Give Up the Ghost the second book in the Not Dead Yet series by Jenn Burke. Both were just a big fat NO for me 👀😩

The first half of 2019 wasn't great for me reading-wise, but the latter half amazing. I read so many great books and there were only two that I didn't like. The first was The Navigator's Touch by Julia Ember. It's the second book in her f/f duology based on Norse Mythology. I read the first book and thought it was okay, but I was not vibing with the second book at all. The other book I didn't love was The Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moira Fowley-Doyle. There were so many characters I didn't care about in the story. However, I did pick up her newest book, All the Bad Apples, at the beginning of the new year and absolutely loved that one.
