What's Up Everyone! In this video, I show an UNEDITED Heeling training session with a one year old German Shepherd!
A proper and legitimate HEEL command is one of the most difficult things for the average dog owner to train! There are a lot of MYTHS out there surrounding this behavior and even more silly youtube videos on 'how to stop pulling'. Dog training is NOT about STOPPING, it's about BUILDING! BUILD DON'T STOP!!
This training session is absolutely crucial for any dog and owner to master in any and every environment! This will take a lot of time, practice and failure! There are a lot of 'dog trainers' that 'train' Heel for years and still are not good at it! TAKE YOUR TIME AND EXPECT TO FAIL! Do not focus on the finished product!! Enjoy the journey and all the tiny details along the way!
These kind of training sessions are how you will TRULY BOND WITH YOUR DOG!
If your dog 'is good' with a prong collar on BUT 'pulls like crazy' without the prong, THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO HEEL!!!!

Help support my channel and get you a shirt!!!

For more in depth unedited training sessions that I would never post for free, join my PATREON!

NOW GET OUT THERE AND TRAIN YOUR DOG!!!

I like that your exact steps. That's exactly what a dummy like me needs!

Especially liked when you said if you don't have time to spend training then you shouldn't have a dog.

I have a 10 mo. old Goldendoodle who has caused me three visits to ED and Urgent Care. I am determined to keep him-sons are not in agreement. I am 77 with lots of arthritis but have house trained him, sit, stay, down inside but my injuries resulted on him seeing woodchuck and rabbit and he took off and I was caught by door.
I watched your video and impressed.

This is the first time someone starts with basics that make sense.

I'm a first time dog owner and I have a 3 year old husky malamute. I had trained her everything except heel because i didn't know how and it was intimidating. I'm in the first few weeks of learning from this video and it has already changed our relationship from pack companions to me as a respected leader. Thankyou so much for that.

Your training isn’t magic, it real! I appreciate that. I have a brindle feral dog that adopted me, when she was a few months old & I’ve invested a lot of time with her, & no matter how much time I invest in her, she gives back much more than I invest in her. I’ve had her for four years now. I am a lucky guy! 😊

I realized recently that having a treat your dog really likes is super important. I happened upon this recipe and my dogs go CRAZY for it. It makes a ton of treats and is super easy and quick to make.

1 tin sardines in water, add whole can, don’t drain it (I used a can of Atlantic salmon because that’s what I had)

1 package liver (chicken, cow, lamb, whatever, doesn’t matter) or tuna if you wanna do a fish version, I used tuna because I didn’t have liver.

2-3 eggs

2 cups flour

1/4 cup ground flax seed

Blend everything together in your blender/food processor until it gets to a thick, gluey consistency. If it’s too runny, add a bit more flour. Too thick, add another egg.

Spread onto parchment-lined baking sheets (I used 3) and bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Flip over onto a cutting board and cut into small pieces with a pizza cutter. Divide into plastic bags and keep one in the fridge for use, keep the rest in the freezer until the ones in the fridge run out. Hope this is helpful for someone! 😊

RANDOM COMMEMT AGAIN. Today is about 300th rep out of 1000. I do left and right FOCUSED heel at the same time. Started to fade out the lure. Right heel doing amazing, left a little worse than the right but she'll get there (she's six months old btw). The one thing I learned about dog training; The more reps you do, the better they become. Very simple. 💪🏻

Started luring when I brought my 7 week old Belgian Malinois home. She now will only eat out of my hands. She’s so smart… when I just ( playing) feed out of right hand…. She will go on left and look at me until I use left hand with kibble! Appreciate the simple lesson bc I was trying to say heel but didn’t feel right. To early now, I see.

Based on this video alone, and the fact you know the difference between training and controlling a behaviour you are the only dog trainer from the US that I've subscribed to.

I just had my adoption application approved for an ACD rescue, 5 years old. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and isn’t aggressive with any other animals, just very shy around people because of an abusive past. I don’t know what else he knows (I pick him up on Friday). I’ve been watching your videos and learning so much! Thank you!

Hey hey!! That’s my boy!!! 🚀 After being with Andy, this pup showed me for the first time what a real heel feels like. And now, even downtown around other dogs/people/traffic/distractions, his heel is super solid—and building every day!! Andy thank you for teaching both of us—you are truly
THE BEST🙏🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Thank you Andy for the tips . The wife and I was given a dog that wasn't worked with back in 2022 and she has made quite a bit of progress so far within this past year. I'm going to use the information that I got from watching your video on how to train to heel to get this one to get in the car and go for rides with us. I thank you so much.

Our 13 week lab works enthusiastically for single kibbles! We did free walking on our mountain property for 2 weeks with lots of recall for name recognition. ("Millie" = treat...so she comes running). Week 3 I started the backwards left hand whenever she was behind me. Week 4 started harness and leash and she is off to a great start already!!
