I just tried this on my 1yr dog and I am not exaggerating he literally stopped jumping within like 5 minutes. Thank you 😊

Tips for how to train family members to follow your rules around your dog?

"One day he is gonna knock over grandma" had me rolling on the floor 🤣

It brings tears to my eyes to see responsible owners who give clear directions to their dogs instead of blindly punishing them for not reading their mind

I’m almost there! Day 1 and he’s thinking about it lol. He backs up while I’m training but has a lapse in judgement when I walk in the door. After a minute he remembers. Hopefully he remembers on day 2 a bit faster.

Very similar training is perfect for teaching "back up!" As well, which is super useful, especially around unfamiliar dogs or people.

My dogs have never jumped on people for some reason, and they’re very gentle with my 92 year old great grandmother. I used this method on my friends dogs though because im over there alot and it works great😂

Interesting technique. I simply taught mine to sit instead of jump. It's easier that way and he always sits politely while waiting for the person to engage.

What I do with my dog to avoid him jumping up, since I can't completely train him not to jump up on people since the rest of my family love the hugs he gives so.... what I do
I only pet him with all 4 paws on the floor when I get home and before I do anything else, I give him enough attention for him to be satisfied

And I haven't been jumped on for over 6 months now

The real test is having her come through the door though not you 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you so much. I have a 1 year old husky that is terrible about this. Game changer here. Thank you so much.

Also they learn that that's how to greet other dogs too, people often confuse an excited dog for a happy dog. You want your dog to be calm and happy not excited and frantic.

Idk man, coming home from work and having my dog run up to me all happy to see me and run circles in excitement is a pretty big part of my day.

Liking this so the people who need this video can get to it

Would have been nice to see the dog not jump on someone other than the person training him. Dogs react differently when it’s not the person enforcing the rules.

Ignoring your dog is not recommended for dogs that don't jump. I call my dog to me when I come home, (but she usually is coming to greet me), and she never jumps, but let's me know she is SO happy we are reunited. She knows I put down my stuff and then she gets big love. Please don't feel like you need to ignore your dog every time you come in the house. They need to know you are thier best friend and being back together is AWESOME!

My dog is eight years old, and we have tried everything, but for some reason, this... this worked. She learned it in 15 minutes. THANK YOU SO MUCH!❤
Now we can come home with ease and without worry that she'll rup our clothes and we won't have claw marks everywhere😂
