They have to put the main character in a posh environment because if they put them on the regular streets with common Brits then they’d actually fit in a lot more with commoners than they do with “high society.” It would be the same if a British commoner were to come to America. But we don’t have royalty, just politicians and celebrities. So that would make for a really cool story. ☺️

From someone who is British, I feel that online often the cultures tend to be combined eg same clothing, similar films etc. However I also think there is misunderstanding of either cultures coming from the other side, probably because of how the UK and the USA is portrayed. For instance, I feel that a lot of Americans think the British are more posh than in reality, because pictures of the UK tend to consist of London and upmarket country side areas, while images of America tend to consist of wealthy young people and Hollywood. It’s kind of like the old money vs new money in a way, but British culture is a lot different compared to how it’s portrayed, simply because most British people aren’t actually rich, and I imagine it’s the same with American culture really.
