Healthcare in the USA is not "all private". The largest heath care programs in the country, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and the Veterans Administration are all publicly funded, and cover more than 1/3rd of the population.

Restaurants are now using the portable machines and have been for quite some time some of them also have them already at the table for you so you can check out when you like it just depends on the restaurant and where you're located

Great video! In the US, healthcare is covered by health insurance, whether personal, governmental or through employment. People with no money are covered through a government plan. Everyone reaching retirement age is also covered. Our retired military are also covered with free medical care. No one is paying a million dollar hospital bill out of their own pocket. Yes, I understand those services outside of the States are characterized as "free". But, are they free? You pay an extraordinarily high percentage of your income in taxes. It covers that "free" healthcare, though. I've heard that there are excessive amounts of wait time to have procedures done ... weeks and months.

I am from the USA and I never experienced a restaurant server pushing me to buy more and bigger and more expensive items. This includes restaurants in many other states I have been at.
I am 72 and grew up with questions from servers as a courtesy to assure that I, as a customer, was complete with what I wanted. I never felt pressured into ordering more or more expensive items. A simple, no thank you, always ended the conversation.
I appreciate the specials being shared with me because they are the best deals and/or a non-typical food item for that restaurant.
I appreciate the server asking if I want any dessert when the server notices I am almost done with my food.
I appreciate the server stopping by asking if everything is okay and if I wanted anything else.
I appreciate fast food places asking if I want fries with my meal because maybe I forgot to order them.
Again, a simple, no thank you, ends the conversation.
If I ever do experience a restaurant server pushing me to buy more/bigger/more expensive items, for sure I would never return to that restaurant.

About the healthcare system, we keep calling it “free” in Europe but the fact is we do pay for it. In Romania for example it’s 14% of the wage, half paid by the employer half by the employee. You pay for it in UK too but it’s part of taxes. The only difference is the health funds are administered by insurance companies in America whilst in most Europe the government does that.

Drive thru food places usually don't offer quality (healthy) foods. RFK Jr has been bringing this to the attention of Americans as well as alternative news sources.

How long were you in America? Because what you report is so far from the normal American experience it couldn't have been very long or at least not deeply examined. No alcohol sales in supermarkets? So you've only ever been in Alaska or Maryland. All private healthcare? That means you're not a veteran and not living in either retirement or poverty. Cost of living? Again, Maryland and Alaska are among the more expensive places to live.

I kept hearing about the electric kettles in the UK, did some research, and now use a kettle instead of heating the water up on my stove. My kettle has multiple temperature settings, not just boiling, and kettles make a lot of sense. Most US houses do have some sort of backyard. The US military used the day-month-year format like the Europeans do, so today's date would be written 28 January 2023. The US is huge - my state of Arkansas is 53, 179 square miles with 3.1 million people, England (not the entire UK) is 50, 346 square miles with 67.5 million people. This density difference is why mass transit works better in England than it would in my state. I hope you get a chance to visit the South - it is quite different in many ways from New Jersey, as is the western part of the US.

I often wondered whether Americans had a built-in compass as they always seem to know which was North, East, South and West. Ask for directions and you might get "You go East on Madison then North on ..." In the UK, few people have any real sense of the compass unless it's glaringly obvious, like North and South directions of the M1 or M6.

I can't figure out what town you're in, lol. I know it's NJ, but where? Maybe Margate, Brigantine? I don't think it's LBI. I moved out of NJ a while back and miss it, so I'm always trying to figure out where NJ videos are filmed. Memories I guess...

As long as you have Health Insurance You do NOT pay for your Treatments but DO pick up part of the bill with what are called Co-Pays. The Healthcare in the UK is NOT FREE.., your Big Taxes for the bill. Brits I know do NOT LIKE the NHS in the too much bureaucracy makes it a pain!
