It’s not only the magnets, there are different types of copper wire as well.

I really wish the standard of my guitar playing warranted such subtle nuances. 😂

Nice I have a classic 57 and a super 57 on my Gibson SG and the classic 57 pickup sounds amazing and nice and thick and crunchy

wouldn't you need to know the orientation of the magnet that came out and the orientation of the new magnet?

Appreciate it, going to try to flip the pickup in my neck humbucker to see if it actually affects the sound.

I did this to a Jackson HB'r/ Belcat. A2 was weak. The A5 worked gr8 !

This was actually very informative for me. Thanks for that. I always wanted to know what the magnets looked like. (Way different than what I imagined)

Meanwhile, my favorite pickups are Chinese "rail" humbuckers lmao (the humbucker sized ones).
Used on both a guitar and a bass.

So... StewMac sells Alnico 2/5 bar magnets for under $20/ea. Is this a worthy $40 upgrade for a pair of ceramic p'ups?

I always have this doubts-for import pickups, do they really use alnico 2, 3, 4 or whatever? Or just a pc of alu/ nickel or equivalent n magnetise it.

I think there is a certain ratio of of al, ni and co right? Does those mfg from overseas follows that?

mind blown! so where can you get good magnets like the gibson? cuz that would be cool to do without spending some more cash to get the same result.
