There is no shortage of skilled labour - there is a shortage of skilled labour willing to work for unskilled people wages

You need to:
1. Pay your employees more (i.e. a living wage)
2. Stop with the outlandish education requirements
3. Get rid of HR
4. Get rid of political "training" (sensitivity, diversity, etc.)
5. Stop treating your employees with disdain and contempt
6. Start training your employees (could replace education requirements)
7. Stop being stupid/inept
8. Stop being a sadistic, out-of-touch tyrant
and...
9. You raised this generation to be lazy and unemployable--you reaped what you sowed

Whenever I see a permanent “Now Hiring” sign at a company I know it must be a shitty place to work.

I’m old. When I was in college in 1969 a popular book was “Up Your Organization”. The author’s first recommendation was “Fire your HR department.” If you’ve never heard of that book, that’s why.

I’m an Airline Pilot. When I started out, pilots were recruited, interviewed and hired by the Chief Pilot and the Training Department. Today, it’s HR with input from the Chief Pilot. Tina from HR knows absolutely nothing about flying airplanes. I have absolutely no idea how they have taken over the process of putting competent people in the cockpit. I have recommended some pretty amazing people that weren’t hired, and I’ve given up trying.

Since the coof hit I’ve heard so many employers crying because they can find enough cheap, foreign workers to exploit. These people would rather cut off their left arm than pay their own countrymen a living wage. I hope they all go bankrupt.

“You get promoted by conforming not performing”. 100% truth, and HR are the arbiters of conformance.

First time on the channel; you’re one angry dude… Don’t blame you. Dealing with the ever-growing levels of stupidity is challenging at best.

I was looking for another job in IT last month. The minute I saw/heard any hint of ESG, photos of coworkers eating/hanging out/playing together on their literature, I excluded that company and moved on immediately. I’ll “play hard” on my own time and I don’t need to be lectured on non-work related issues.

Why does an HR department exist? - Because thats the Corporate Cover your @ss department. They're there only for the company (not the employee) as a buffer to potentially mitigate legal problems before they start. The problem is that they were the annoying stupid kids in school that got beat up. So now they have a job where they can power trip and play corporate police. This is where the Karens go.

I'm in my 50's. Never thought I'd see the collapse when I was younger. But it's happening.
Atlas is shrugging. Sit back and enjoy the show.

I was told my whole life. If I get a degree, the world's my oyster. Well, I got a degree and now I can't get a job because I'm "overqualified."

I had an interview about 2 months ago. It all went well, I met with the supervisors and we talked about the position and how I would be employed to best advantage. As the interview wound down, a "woman" from HR sat down in front of me and gave me a real interrogation. Yes she wanted to know what kind of animal I would like to be, and what is my favorite color was. At that point I knew that the whole thing was going to be a waste of my time and the job will probably NEVER be filled. You"re right Cappy, it's a coven of witches!

Telling them to increase the payment is like blasphemy.

My company just bumped pay for floor guys $3 an hour and guess what happened: it became WAY easier to find employees. Imagine that!

During my interview before Is started working at this drywall company. The lady was of course a fucking Boomer and one of the first things she started whining about (during an interview out of all things) was that she hasn't been able to find anybody to work for the company except us and how they pay good money so there should be no reason why nobody wants to work for them. Well I got the job and now see why nobody wants to work there: the boss is an abusive asshole.

I saw a job opening for "Entry level DBA with 5 years experience."
5 years experience = You know what you're doing.
Entry level = we ain't gonna pay what you're worth

With respect to bogus educational requirements. My dad (born 1919) graduated from HS during the depression. He applied for a position with the Navy Dept in an “intern” - not the same thing as today - designed to find potential future executives. Over 2000 applied for 20 positions, 200 passed the written exam and were interviewed by a selection panel. They didn’t fill all 20, but my dad was one. They started him as a messenger. Fast forward he ended up at the highest level of DOD civilian civil service running his own agency at the Pentagon. His deputy had a PhD - my dad thought he was kind of dense. The Navy.did the smart thing. Rather than looking at”qualifications”they found the best people and trained them for the long term.
