Correct me if I'm wrong, , but to my knowledge the standard deadlift aids athleticism.

I am a D1 track runner and this is a great excercise for explosiveness and atheltism.

This is really unnecessary and honestly unsafe. The benefits on the ankle are hypothetical. Reality is the lift is too unstable to be able to load effectively for what you can probably produce with the calves and achilles tendon. You’re better off doing a heel elevated hold with a static carry rather than doing an dynamic motion. This also risks too much throw off motion and instability to the back and feet making the movement pattern kinda crappy and could cause someone an injury.

I’m all for improving the spring of the ankle but we’ve gotta do better than this guys.

And also saying that this is the only deadlift that can improve athleticism is just so incorrect and misleading on so many levels. Please stop misleading athletes with your gimmicks.

Hi people, this is mostly a waste of time if you’re a beginner/ intermediate lifers. Please don’t let let fancy excercises being done by someone with a good physique fool you, stick to the basics and focus on progressive-overload.

What's wrong with calve raises ? I don't think it's a good idea making a functional move of the deadlift. Stay stable when doing weight training

Im trying to recover from achilles tendonitis. I found that trying to strengthen my achilles by just doing single leg calve raises isn't helping my running pain. Isometrics, plyometrics-loading, and functional stretching is helping. Slow but better athlete at the end of my journey.

Literally, all deadlifts aid athleticism. The core athleticism is lower body power, and strength in the squat and hinge.

This is GOLD, I can't wait to start doing these on top of calf raises and bounces

This actually stabilizes your ancle and helps if you have pain there because it could be underdeveloped

I like this idea but if I can also chime in… narrow stance is great for explosiveness. The way to set up for narrow is to approach the bar quickly as if you are going to jump like you would to hit a max vertical, then look at your feet and that is how wide your feet should be.

Someone’s gonna blow out their Achilles doing this I can see it now

Trap bar deadlifts are the only deadlifts that my son performs as he is in an athletic position. They are usually for as an eccentric or concentric/ Plyometric set.

That's the most complex calf raise exercise I've ever seen that actually sounds practical
