I want to remind people that unless we are native indigenous Americans, we all have roots that come from other countries. They used to call America a melting pot of different cultures and different countries. I was born here but my parents came from China. I retain some of my parent’s culture yet I value the American culture much more. But during the pandemic I was compelled to protect myself just because of the discrimination I experienced because the dreaded disease originated from China. I laugh at people that tell me to go back where I came from. My response is I am already here.

I’m a First Generation Immigrant from S. Korea when I was 6 years old. I served 23 years in the US Military as I felt I had an obligation to repay the debt of opportunity and acceptance in my newly adopted country. Now, I feel less welcome than I’ve ever faced in my life. Weekly racial slurs against myself and my children. Being yelled at to “go back to your own country”! Never mind that I served 23 years and my wife served in Saudi during Desert Storm and was deployed for 8 months.

Another Trump term already has my family discussing emigrating. I’m so saddened, frustrated and angry.

This is a real time example of how Trump creates division. There wasn't a problem in Springfield before he opened his mouth. Now you have a community of people that were thriving turning on each other for no other reason than because Trump said something stupid. I hope the community in Springfield can overcome his hatred together and stay strong. I'm proud that our brothers and sisters from Haiti have been able to make a new home in the US. We are all stronger and better off for having them beside us.

The owner of McGregor Metal in Springfield has said that he would like to have more Haitians working for his company. He stated that they come to work and that’s more than he can say about local residents. He said the opioid epidemic is perhaps the cause of Americans in Springfield not being dependable and reliable to come to work!!! Nobody told me this. Saw with my own eyes when the owner was interviewed!! 🙏🙏🙏💯!
