My Grams' father (dad's mom's dad) trained his pigs, he always honked the horn in the model T farm truck they had EVERY TIME he put feed out, and eventually let them kind of go free range in the river bottom they farmed. Every morning drive out to the feed trough, honk the horn and the pigs came running. She said he saved money and work by letting the pigs get some food free range, but trained them from piglets to get the good stuff at the trough.

Good job expanding the pig area. Learn for the future. Love the way you are teaching your son instead of just having him in your videos as a "cute prop" like a lot of other channels. Hang in there and continue the great videos.

Maybe the way to manage the pig pen is two have two side by side and move the pigs back and forth for maintenance?

Both the pigs and chicks seem to be a lot more content in there new quarters Wes. You and the little man did a nice job of upgrading their living spaces. And as big as those pigs have gotten, I smell porkchops, ham, bacon and such cooking up soon. 😋👍

I think moving the pig pen and preventing them from going into that muddy mess is the next best step. I'm excited that you gave them some extra room to roam!

Pigs prefer dry ground, mud occasionally. So glad you gave them a larger dry area. You have plenty of wood and can make a wooden fence if need be and use the electric to deter them and predators. Good idea using the larger wheels for the baby chicks pen.

Wes, please remember pine trees are self pruning so keep an eye out for falling limbs during the high winds we have. I live about an hour from y'all and I have to pick up pine limbs after every storm. They'll flatten your electric fence.

A slightly more secure portable fence would help keep the property brush controlled. So happy it’s working

Nice one Wes! The Pigs sure look a whole lot happier, and probably healthier & cleaner too, as long as they don't make a break for freedom. Good quick bodge with the wheels on the 'Chicken tractor' too! Love that Cookie coloured Cat of yours! Stay safe & well - greetings from the UK, Dave. 👍👍

If you put the wheels on outriggers so they are beyond the cage then as you lift one end the wheel end will also lift a little giving you clearance and making it drag easier.

When I built our pigpen, it is old 4 ft woven wire on the outside with 2 strands of electric near the bottom on the inside. Has worked for a year now. The best part was the woven wire was given to me just to take down and haul away (free with sweat equity).

We raised pigs the first few years we were married (stopped because my wife got too attached every year. We had two pens and rotated our garden into the out year pen each year. Had the best gardens on that ground. We feed them grain and scraps up to the last 30 days and finished them with high protein dog food. Every one raved over our meat.

Great job on the fence and the tractor (chicken tractor, that is)...great problem solving! Your work is excellent BUT, your little helper is stinking amazing! He's really coming into his own! That's awesome! Well done, Dad! 👍
