I’m not convinced that these people are actually fishing. My experience with people like these is they are either growing marijuana or digging ginseng. There’s a lot of money to be made with either one! In either case they are more than likely armed and hostile. If they have resorted to stealing your property they will not hesitate to leave you where you hit the ground! Please be careful!

These individuals aren’t walking to your property they’re arriving by car or truck. Focus more the road, where they’d have to leave their vehicle. Especially if you can find the tracks of where they are parking to trespass.

I remember when I was working 10 hour days seven days a week for two months got to bed at 2:30 AM in the morning at 2:45 I was woke up by headlight shining in my bedroom windows with somebody riding through the fields outback. They had driven in about a half mile away and was running through the fields and came up next to the house the next morning I had a 2 x 6 with 100 ring, shank nails buried across the drive back there. It was all private property surrounded by woods, and no one supposed be back there .but us and two other farmers And they knew about it.
later friends told me they had seen a truck go by with those big off road tires all flat another guy seen them about 10 miles away on ruined rims.
I was never woke up again .

In the Ozarks we have big bored hounddogs roaming the property, day and night. They bark at gnats and hunt anything that moves. Our signs say beware of dogs.

We have a tall fence at the creek with signs, too. Because people are allowed free passage on waterways in our state. We set up a covered picnic area with a toilet and water, plus signs outlining the restrictions. Boaters can call and request an overnight stay, but we don't want strangers wandering the homestead without them introducing themselves.

It is legal to put a trip flair. Not trying to harm anyone, just scare them. Make sure the flair doesn't point to the trespassers.

So your cameras catch them coming, but never catch them leaving that mean they are not really fishing. They’re actually transporting something and they’re using the fishing rod as a distraction because why would you not come and go out the same exit if you’re just fishing that means they’re traveling somewhere else and taking another route back home they’re transporting are going to go through your property again.

I built myself some pipes that hold a .20 gauge shell and utilize a spring & trip wire. The shells sit in the pipe facing the ground, the rim resting on the pipe, so, no fires or blown-off ankles -- just a big BOOM that surprises us both!

Do you have something of value like ginseng on the property? I’d also look to see if they have a pot grow somewhere. If your going in, in the middle of the night your not going in to fish.

It isn't illegal to leave building supplies laying around your property, just some plywood with a bunch of nails sticking up and covered up with leaves around the gate.

There’s nothing more scary than people sneaking into your space. We had three burglars walking around my house. The security footage was chilling. Haven’t felt fully safe since😔
