60% of the comments are people saying the train is slower than theirs
20% are compliments to the train
10% people trying to explain to Europeans why it's slow or why it doesn't need to travel at 300 km.
10% have nothing to do with the train at all...

America's rail system gets a lot of flak, most of it deserved. But the Acela Express is actually fantastic for what it does. It's one of Amtrak's most popular services, runs at a great profit and passenger load numbers, and gives domestic airlines on the East coast a serious run for their money. It's a shame that the line hasn't been completely overhauled and upgraded, since the Northeast Corridor is perfectly suited for High Speed Rail operations: many cities with large populations within hours of each other.

I'm the Conductor of the noon Acela from Boston. When we reach the straight track south of Sharon Hill and make to the maximum speed of 240km, it's still very intense, even after 15 years.

you see, when you are watching a train video, its not even half as powerful as the real thing, so when you are watching oe of these videos, just keep that in mind, and also bring to heart that these people spend about 30 minutes just to wait for about 3-5 seconds of pure amazement, and they wont get that for another while, and it takes at least a few days to get a good solid 5 minute video. So give respect for these people

Why's everyone complaining that Amtrak are "only" doing 150mph? In the UK, our trains never usually go over 125mph, and even on our only high speed line are still limited to 140mph.

I can think of many other countries around the world with far slower trains.

It's the closest thing to feeling like you're travelling by train in Europe, while still being in the U.S.

Amazing to think of all the physics involved in this. "Just a flange on a wheel" doesn't quite do it the forces and physical laws being funneled into a very futuristic conveyance. Nice.

We need more trains like the Acela. It’s the closest thing to high speed rail in the US.

Hi from France to America ! Even if that train is not so fast than our TGV, i consider it as a fast train compared to previous american trains. Travels are now shorter than before and are less expensive than plane, and connect town center between them.

In the future, your trains will be even faster than nowadays. USA go !

I know that the Acela Express can reach “only” 240 km/h. But I really like it’s design, and don’t forget that it runs on normal railway. Greetings from Salerno.
