Really liking the interior. Must ask do you really think the FRA will allow you to go 250mph+ when the original Acela had a top speed of 204 and it was limited to 150 in a tiny sector in Rhode island and everywhere else was between 50mph-125mph.

I'm extremely lucky to have Amtrak run through my city. I can take a train to Wilmington, Delaware from my city, go to the beach or visit family in Pennsylvania for a week, and return home without having to drive the half-day long trip. I wish more people would take advantage of what rail system we do have.

I live in MD and for my 60th birthday my middle son and I are taking Acela from DC to Boston to visit my youngest son. I'm so excited to get to ride this beautiful and environmentally sound train. WAY TO GO, AMTRAK!!!!

I have never seen the Acela, but sad that it is being retired. I have never seen the Avelia Liberty, but am excited for it

The interior looks a lot like the high speed Thalys train between Amsterdam and Paris. Don’t know if it will hit 200 mph though...

Just found out that the Acela's are a possibility on an old/new Amtrak high/higher-speed route between D/FW and Houston, so I stopped by to see what the cars would look like. I must say I am absolutely blown-away by how nice the interiors look, they are much, much nicer than I had anticipated. I particularly like the layout and look of the Cafe cars. Way Cool Amtrak!

They seem so sleek, and futuristic (almost Jetson-esque), compared to the Japanese trains that the privately funded (?) Texas Central project is/was looking at using. There is no comparison! Should the Texas Central project get derailed (pun intended) by the regional airlines down here, I hope Amtrak can take over and get their "Acela Texas" project up and running, especially with the new infrastructure funding! Please "Make It So!" Amtrak!
