It had been a while since I'd seen these anywhere but parked outside 30th Street. Glad they're back up and testing again, gives me hope they'll actually be in service eventually...

When the service starts, I want to go to USA from Japan to board it.

Cool I feel like we haven’t seen them running often in almost a year

Amtrak really needs to speed up the construction of dedicated sections or even complete tracks dedicated to high speed. This is the major argument of this train cut for 320 km/h (200 MPH) at commercial speed. So from what I know initially the speed would be 260 km/h (160 MPH) then, if improvements are made to the track, this commercial speed could be increased to 300 km/h (187 MPH). Imagine a direct Boston-Washington trip in 3 hours. There we have one of the arguments to compete with the plane and to promote high-speed rail in the USA.

How amazing that it was the true meaning of High Speed Rail of Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor, especially an new incoming Avelia Liberty

Japan is allmost long as the entire us east coast, it takes 22 hours to get from the top of Japan to the bottom via Shinkansen, meaning that it’s absolutely possible to connect the northeast corridor to the southeast, problem is that there are no high speed train lines that go to the southeast and our trains are too slow, but if we did manage to create a southeast corridor and connect it to the northeast corridor, we could get high speed rail all the way from Maine to Miami in 24 hours creating the continental corridor. So should we build such a railway that follows the northeast corridor to the south that can handle +300 kph trains?

I figured they had to have resumed testing; in 2021 and 2022 I passed through Philly en route to Florida on the Silver Star, and I would always get a short look at the single Avelia parked there... Now fast forward to Mid and end of December last year, there were now three then FOUR(!?!) parked there!! Hoping they can finally get them in service before 2024!!

At first, I did not like the look of the new Acela sets… But they are starting to grow on me… If they put a nicer horn on there, then maybe it will be a favorite of mine…

More videos of a train that we still won't be riding until FALL of 2023...2 years late.

Coming soon to Train Sim World 3, the Acela Express

These look dated already. Is it still going to be a Premium Fare service or will they offer a second class /tourist class option like TGV onOui and RENFE

Acela II, at least one new train not being built by Siemens. Amtrak should avoid to buy only from one maker, it's always better to have some competition.

is it actually 160mph?
and i guess 160 is an improvement over 150 but still the problem is average track speed which is pretty slow

This is super cool.
Have you had a chance to see the Japanese High-speed Train? It is mind blowing how fast they go.

Thanks for sharing this video.

I assume this was testing for the 4th train set? I assume the problems are still being fixed and testing will hopefully happen soon
